What is the Self Determination Program? It is a social justice movement for people with Special Needs. It allows them to choose who they hire, customize their supports, and have freedom about how they use their funding. These are all things individuals without special needs get to have choices around every day. SDP is about making the power of choice, autonomy and self-advocacy more accessible to all.

North Bay Regional Center will be having an event in Napa on June 5th to share info about the Self Determination Program!

There will also be future events coming up in Santa Rosa and Solano County, if Napa is too far for you. Dates TBD.

Local vendors are also encouraged to get in touch to table at the event, if the business is willing to enroll SDP participants, and take SDP dollars :)

One thing I love about the Self-Determination Program is that it helps eliminate disparities between people receiving Regional Services.

When I first heard about the Self-Determination Program the main thing that grabbed my attention was the idea that enrolling in the program could actually make Respite Services work for my family.
