FACT: Not all food builds muscle after 50. A lot of them actively work against you. 🥩🍩
Past 50, your body gets worse at turning protein into muscle. It means every meal has to work harder, and the foods you choose matter more than they did at 30. There’s no room for mistakes when it comes to nutrition anymore.
But the goal is simple: more protein, fewer calories, and foods that keep you full so you’re not reaching for junk two hours later. Here are just a few you should go for, and some you should avoid:
✅EXCELLENT (high protein, low calorie, keeps you full):
Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, shrimp, & seared tuna.
Up to 29g of protein per 100g, and none of them go over 130 calories.
🆗GOOD (solid protein, moderate calories):
Eggs, chicken breast, lean sirloin, & salmon.
Reliable muscle-building staples that deserve a spot on your plate every week.
❎AVOID (heavy calories, little payoff):
Donuts, granola, chips, bacon.
Granola is the one that catches most men out. It looks healthy, but it packs nearly 500 calories per 100g.
You don’t need a complicated diet. You need to build your plate around the right foods, train hard, and stay consistent.
Save this for your next grocery run and send it to a man who needs to see it.
