(SPARCC) was formed as a non-profit agency in 1979. We are the only state-certified center for domestic violence and sexual assault services for Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. SPARCC free and confidential services include:

• 24-hour Emergency Shelter
• Hospital and Court Accompaniment
• Safety Planning
• Crisis Counseling and Advocacy
• Children’s Services
• Case Management
• Therapeutic Counseling
• Legal Services
• Support Groups
• Economic Empowerment
• Information and Referrals
• Prevention Education

Together, with the help of volunteers, in-kind donors and financial supporters, SPARCC is able to offer comprehensive wrap-around services for survivors and their children, as well as prevention education to community groups and area schools. We can’t do this important work without YOU!

For nearly four decades, Rosemary Eure at Lancaster & Eure, P.A. has been part of SPARCC’s story. What began with an introduction to SPARCC in 1989 grew into years of service, support and a beautiful family tradition of giving.

In “SPARCCing an Evolution,” Rosemary shares her journey with SPARCC and a powerful reminder that there are many ways to make a difference: “Not everyone can write the check. But we all have a voice.”

Domestic violence is a serious crime that affects people across ages, income levels, and gender but most often women and children.

SPARCC Sarasota provides free services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties, and works to stop these crimes through community awareness and education.

During its meeting this morning, the City Commission recognized October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, underscoring the importance of efforts to protect victims and prevent abuse. A representative from SPARCC was on hand to receive the recognition.

We’re looking forward to a meaningful afternoon at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, where voices from across our community will come together to share, educate and inspire.

SPARCC Director of Sexual Violence and South County Services Jessica Johnston will be speaking about sexual violence, helping bring greater awareness to an issue that too often remains behind closed doors and sharing information about support available to survivors.
