Apparently my grounding mat has Harley’s seal of approval. 🐾❤️

I started sleeping with a grounding mat about a year and a half ago, and it has become part of my nighttime routine. But every time I change the bedding, Harley climbs right onto it, curls his paws in, starts purring, and settles down like it was put there just for him.

Just watch him. 😂

Creating a calm, relaxing environment at the end of the day is something I’ve really come to enjoy. Along with my grounding mat, I often incorporate essential oils into my nighttime routine — Lavender, Peace & Calming, RutaVaLa, or another relaxing favorite in the diffuser.

It’s all about those simple little things that help signal that the day is winding down.

Although judging by Harley, I may have to start making reservations for my own grounding mat. ❤️

What’s part of your nighttime wind-down routine?

Healthy doesn’t have to mean complicated. 💜

The older I get, the more I appreciate the simple things — real food, ingredients I recognize, routines that make me feel good, and choices I can actually live with.

I’m not interested in doing everything perfectly. I’m much more interested in finding little things that work for me and repeating them until they simply become part of how I live.

Sometimes that’s making my own salad dressing.
Sometimes it’s washing and prepping fresh produce.
Sometimes it’s choosing a colorful meal that I genuinely enjoy.

None of those things feels like a “diet” to me. They’re just choices I’ve made along the way — one small habit at a time. 🌿

What’s one healthy choice you make now that you barely even think about anymore?

🌮 Taco Tuesday, but a little lighter!

One simple swap I love is using 93/7 ground turkey instead of ground beef for tacos. It still browns up beautifully, takes on all the flavor of my seasonings, and one of my favorite benefits is that I don’t have to drain off a bunch of grease when it’s done cooking.

I brown the turkey with some of my homemade salsa (that recipe stays in my kitchen 😉), along with salt, pepper, and a seasoning mix I feel good about using.

Ben enjoys his in hard taco shells, and I usually turn mine into a big taco salad for a lighter option with all the same taco flavor.

Sometimes healthy choices don’t have to feel complicated — just a few simple changes can make a difference while still keeping meals delicious.

Are you more of a taco person or a taco salad person?

Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is simply recharge. 💜

Rest doesn’t always mean doing nothing. Sometimes it looks like slowing down, laughing until your cheeks hurt, spending time with people you love, stepping away from the to-do list, or simply giving yourself permission to enjoy the moment.

Our bodies need rest. Our minds need quiet. And our hearts need connection.

I’m learning that wellness isn’t only about what we eat, how we move, or the products we use. It’s also about making room for rest, relaxation, laughter, love, friends, and family.

Those moments refill us in ways we don’t always realize until we finally slow down enough to feel it.

So if you need permission to recharge today… consider this your reminder. 💜

One of the biggest changes I’ve made over the years is realizing that healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. 🌿

Most of the time, it’s the little choices I make consistently that matter most.

🥗 Making my own dressings so I know exactly what’s in them
🥬 Adding plenty of fresh vegetables to our meals
🥑 Choosing whole-food ingredients whenever I can
💧 Drinking water throughout the day
🌿 Being intentional about the products and ingredients I bring into our home

I’m certainly not trying to do everything perfectly—and I don’t believe that’s necessary.

I simply try to make the better choice when I have one.

Those little choices, repeated day after day, have become such a natural part of my life that I really don’t think of them as a “wellness routine” anymore.

They’re simply how I live. 💜

What’s one small healthy habit that has become second nature for you?

I’ve gotten pretty particular about what goes into my food — and salad dressing is one of those things I’d much rather make myself. 🥗

So many bottled dressings contain added sugars, preservatives, and other ingredients I simply don’t need. Making my own means I know exactly what’s going into it, I can adjust the flavor to suit us, and honestly, it only takes a few minutes.

I usually keep two favorites in rotation — a balsamic vinaigrette and a citrus vinaigrette — and both are incredibly simple to make.

For me, this is one of those small changes that just makes sense. Fewer unnecessary ingredients, fresh flavor, and complete control over what’s on my plate. 💚

I’ll share the recipes for both soon.

Big Ed’s story is a reminder that small choices can make a difference in our health. One simple habit I practice in my own kitchen is soaking our produce before we eat it.

Before our fruits and veggies ever make it onto our plates, they usually make a little stop right here. 🍅🥬🍓

I think about everything produce goes through before it reaches my kitchen — being harvested, packed, transported, stocked, picked up at the store, put back down, and handled along the way.

For me, a quick rinse just doesn’t feel like enough.

I prefer to soak our produce first and then rinse it thoroughly. It’s one more simple step I can take to help clean away dirt, surface residue, and whatever may have been picked up through all that handling.

I also like that the produce soak I use helps remove some of the waxy coating found on certain fruits and vegetables.

It’s such a simple part of my kitchen routine, but one I rarely skip.

What about you — do you soak your produce, or are you more of a rinse-and-go person?

Some things in our daily routines are about wellness… and some are about love. ❤️

This is my “Big Ed” mug, and I actually made it for my dad.

After he passed away, I started using it as part of my own morning routine. Now, every time I make my smoothie and reach for this mug, it gives me a little connection to him.

So while you may see me drinking my smoothie, what I see is a reminder of someone I loved very much. 💕

If I use it every day, chances are I don’t hide it away. 💜

Earlier this week I showed you my morning shake station and the pull-out where I keep the things I reach for every morning.

But there’s one part of my daily routine you won’t find tucked inside a cabinet…

My essential oils.

They live right on my kitchen counter, where they’re easy to see and easy to reach.

When I made the shift in our home, I didn’t want healthier choices to become complicated. I wanted them to become normal.

And for me, that means putting the things I actually use where I’ll actually use them.

I reach for my oils throughout the day, so hiding them behind a cabinet door simply doesn’t make sense. They’ve become as much a part of our home as the things most people automatically keep on their kitchen counter.

That may be one of the biggest differences between buying healthier products and actually building a lifestyle around them.

Make them easy to reach.
Make them easy to use.
And eventually… you don’t even think about it anymore. It’s just what you do. 💜

What’s something you keep within arm’s reach because you use it every single day?

This is how I break my fast. 💚

As part of my health routine, I fast until noon. My smoothie is my first meal of the day and the way I break my fast.

I started intermittent fasting last November after a suggestion from my chiropractor, and over time it has become a routine that works very well for me. I’ve also become much more intentional about what goes into that first meal of the day and the supplements I include as part of my daily routine.

I also try to finish dinner before 6:00 PM, which gives my day a natural rhythm that I’ve found easy to maintain.

What I’ve learned is that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated. For me, it’s about creating healthy habits that fit into my life and then being consistent with them.

Simple. Intentional. Sustainable. 💚
