Murph. Memorial Day. Every year.
This year I'm doing it with Dr. Spielberg — a mile out, 100/200/300 in the middle, a mile home, twenty pounds on the chest. A workout named for Lt. Michael P. Murphy, USN. Killed in Afghanistan in 2005, age 29, calling in support for his team.
It's not a stunt. It's an annual physical, in the truest sense of the phrase. A single morning that loads every number we put on a Precision Blueprint: VO₂ max, grip strength, capacity under fatigue. We test for these one at a time in the office. Murph tests for all of them at once.
I'll be carrying my brother's flag from his deployment in the chalk bucket. He came home. Many didn't. The cost of getting to be tired tomorrow was paid by people who don't get to be tired anymore. Honor them by using the body they protected.
If you're new to it — scale it. Half-Murph. No vest. Ring rows. The point is to start.
