08/26/2026

Trust is the foundation of medicine. Every patient who walks into a doctor’s office believes they will receive honest information, thoughtful advice, and recommendations based on their best interests. Yet in recent years, many Americans have begun to question whether that trust has been weakened.

The recent Senate hearing in which Dr. Anthony Fauci repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment rather than answer questions about his role during the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified that debate. Regardless of how one interprets his decision, the hearing has renewed public concern about transparency, accountability, and whether the public has been given the complete story about many aspects of the pandemic response.

This issue extends far beyond one individual.

Modern medicine often communicates in simple sound bites. Patients are frequently given straightforward explanations for complex diseases because they are easier to understand and easier to deliver during a brief office visit. While simplicity has value, oversimplification can become misleading when it leaves out important scientific uncertainty, alternative approaches, or the underlying causes of illness.

Too often, healthcare focuses on controlling symptoms instead of asking the more important question:

Why did this disease develop in the first place?

A patient develops high blood pressure and receives medication. Another develops type 2 diabetes and is prescribed additional medications. High cholesterol leads to another prescription. Weight gain leads to another drug. Joint pain leads to anti-inflammatory medications.

These treatments can be appropriate and, in many cases, lifesaving. Modern pharmaceuticals have transformed medicine by reducing suffering and preventing countless deaths. But medications frequently manage the consequences of disease rather than eliminating the biological processes that caused the disease to develop.

The future of healthcare should place greater emphasis on discovering and correcting those root causes.

Human physiology evolved over hundreds of thousands of years in an environment very different from the one most people live in today. Poor nutrition, physical inactivity, inadequate sleep, chronic stress, obesity, social isolation, to***co use, excessive alcohol consumption, and environmental exposures all contribute substantially to many chronic diseases. Addressing these factors often improves health alongside appropriate medical treatment.

This does not mean every disease can be prevented through lifestyle. Genetics, autoimmune disorders, infections, trauma, and many cancers can occur despite excellent habits. Nor does it mean medications should be abandoned. Instead, it suggests that healthcare is strongest when it combines evidence-based medical treatment with prevention and lifestyle strategies whenever possible.

Patients deserve more than quick answers.

They deserve physicians willing to explain what is known, what remains uncertain, and why different experts sometimes disagree. Science advances by questioning assumptions, testing ideas, correcting mistakes, and remaining open to new evidence. Transparency about uncertainty is not a weakness—it is part of honest scientific practice.

Medicine should continually strive to become more transparent, more accountable, and more focused on preventing disease rather than simply treating its consequences. When patients understand the factors influencing their health—including nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, environmental influences, and appropriate medical care—they are better equipped to make informed decisions.

The goal should not be choosing between medications and lifestyle medicine. The goal should be using every effective, evidence-based tool available while remaining honest about both the strengths and limitations of each.

In the end, the strongest healthcare system is one that earns trust through openness, accountability, scientific rigor, and a commitment to helping patients understand not only what is happening to their health, but also why.

WHAT IF BETTER HEALTH MEANS GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS?

Modern life has changed dramatically.
Ultra-processed foods. Less movement. Less sunlight. Poor sleep. Constant stimulation. More time indoors.

And our biology hasn’t changed nearly as fast.
Maybe the answer isn’t always another medication, another diet, or another quick fix.
Maybe it’s understanding how the body was designed to function—and working with your biology instead of against it.

Whole foods.
Muscle.
Movement.
Sunlight.
Sleep.
Healthy hormones.
Metabolic health.

Sometimes, moving forward means remembering what we’ve left behind.

Lose Fat, Build Strength, and Thrive: The Ancestral Superfoods That Modern Nutrition Forgot

At Rx Weight Loss & Wellness, We Believe the Best Weight Loss Foods Aren't New—They're Timeless!

Every year, millions of Americans spend billions of dollars searching for the next breakthrough weight loss solution.

Yet some of the most powerful foods for fat loss, muscle preservation, metabolic health, and long-term vitality have been hiding in plain sight for generations.

At Rx Weight Loss & Wellness, our research department is constantly evaluating cutting-edge science and emerging nutritional discoveries. What we've repeatedly found is something surprising:

The foods that helped build strong, lean, resilient humans throughout history remain some of the most effective foods for achieving optimal body composition today.

What's enduring is often the best new thing.

Why Weight Loss Is About More Than Calories

Most diets fail because they focus on eating less rather than nourishing the body more.

The human body is not simply a calorie-burning machine. It is a highly sophisticated biological system that constantly evaluates whether it has the nutrients needed to:

Build muscle

Burn fat

Produce energy

Repair tissues

Regulate hormones

Control hunger and cravings

When the body receives inadequate nutrition, it often responds by increasing hunger, reducing energy expenditure, and making fat loss more difficult.

When it receives abundant nutrition from whole foods, the opposite can occur.

This is where organ meats become one of nature's most powerful and overlooked tools.

Nature's Original Weight Loss and Strength-Building Foods

For thousands of years, traditional cultures reserved organ meats for:

Warriors

Hunters

Growing children

Pregnant women

Elders

Why?

Because these tissues contain concentrated amounts of nutrients that support growth, recovery, strength, endurance, and metabolic efficiency.

Long before supplements existed, nature packaged these nutrients into foods such as liver, heart, and kidney.

Today these foods remain among the most nutrient-dense options available.

More Nutrition, Less Cost

Typical Retail Cost Comparison

Food Approximate Cost Per Pound
Beef Liver $2–5
Chicken Liver $1–3
Beef Heart $3–6
Beef Kidney $2–5
Ground Beef $5–8
Sirloin Steak $9–15
Ribeye Steak $15–25+
Chicken Breast $4–8
Salmon $10–20

In many grocery stores, liver costs less than one-third the price of premium steak while providing dramatically higher concentrations of critical nutrients.

In a time when food prices continue to rise, few foods deliver more nutrition per dollar.

Vitamin A- A single serving of beef liver contains approximately 20,000–30,000 IU of preformed vitamin A.

Vitamin A plays important roles in:
- Cellular repair
- Immune function
- Hormone regulation
- Protein synthesis
- Healthy metabolic function

Vitamin B12 - Beef liver provides approximately 70–80 mcg of vitamin B12 per 100 grams.

B12 is essential for:
- Energy production
- Red blood cell formation
- Nervous system function
- Exercise performance
- Folate

Liver provides significant amounts of folate, a nutrient necessary for cell growth, tissue repair, and healthy metabolism.

Copper

Liver is one of the richest dietary sources of copper.

Copper participates in numerous enzymatic reactions involved in:

- Energy production
- Iron metabolism
- Connective tissue formation
- Antioxidant defense
- Iron

Liver contains highly bioavailable heme iron, helping support oxygen transport throughout the body.

Oxygen delivery is critical for:
- Endurance
- Exercise capacity
- Recovery
- Metabolic performance

Beef Heart: The Strength and Energy Organ

Beef heart deserves special attention for anyone interested in maintaining muscle, energy, and performance.

Heart naturally contains:
- CoQ10
- B vitamins
- Selenium
- Zinc
- Iron
- Complete protein

Because the heart is one of the body's most energy-demanding organs, it contains large amounts of mitochondria and CoQ10, nutrients associated with cellular energy production.

Why Nutrient Density Matters for Weight Loss

Many people struggle to lose weight despite eating fewer calories.

One reason may be that modern processed foods provide large amounts of energy but relatively few nutrients.

The body can remain hungry even when calories are abundant if nutritional needs are not being met.

Nutrient-dense whole foods help provide:
- High-quality protein
- Essential vitamins
- Essential minerals
- Greater satiety
- Improved recovery
- Better preservation of lean muscle during weight loss

Preserving muscle is one of the most important factors in maintaining long-term metabolic health.

Muscle tissue is your body's metabolic engine.

The more muscle you maintain, the more calories your body burns around the clock.

The Ancestral Advantage

Traditional cultures understood something modern nutrition is beginning to rediscover:

The strongest and healthiest members of society were often given the most nutrient-dense foods available.

Organ meats were prized not because they were fashionable, but because they worked.

Today, these same foods can be incorporated into modern diets by:
- Blending liver into ground beef
- Adding heart to chili and meat sauces
- Using organ meat blends in burgers
- Incorporating nutrient-dense ancestral foods into regular meal planning
