🔥 TIGHT HIP FLEXORS? YOUR HIP THRUST MAY BE MISSING THE POINT.
Hip thrusts can be a great way to teach your glutes to work while your hips open up. 🍑
The key is how you do them.
❌ If your hamstrings cramp…
❌ If you feel your low back doing the work…
❌ If you're simply trying to lift your hips as high as possible…
You may be missing the glutes.

👇 TRY THIS INSTEAD:
🦶 Bring your heels closer to your bottom.
🧱 Brace your core and create a small, active crunch.
⬇️ Keep your ribs from flaring up.
💥 Drive your heels into the floor.
🍑 Then push your hips through the center by squeezing your glutes—not by arching your lower back.
The goal isn't just to get your hips higher.
The goal is to get your glutes working while the front of the hips lengthens.

💡 Want even more glute involvement?
Let the knees press slightly wider as you come up.
You can also place a resistance band around the knees and gently press outward during the movement. 🔥
For someone with tight hip flexors, trouble finding their glutes, or an achy lower back, this change can make the exercise feel completely different.

🎥 Watch the video and pay attention to the setup.
Small changes in how you move can change where you feel the exercise.

If back pain keeps returning, an evaluation can help determine what's contributing to it instead of simply guessing which exercise you need.

🦵 Do your knees ache... but your scans don't show much?
❌ Pain on the inside of the knee ❌ Pain on the outside of the knee ❌ Aching beneath the kneecap ❌ Stiffness after sitting ❌ Pain when going up or down stairs
Sometimes the problem isn't that your knee is "worn out."
👉 It may be that the ligaments, tendons, and stabilizing muscles around the knee aren't tolerating load as well as they should.
One movement I frequently use is Knee Circles.
✅ This exercise gently loads the tissues around the knee through a controlled range of motion, helping improve joint control while encouraging the ligaments and tendons to adapt over time.
A few important rules:
✔️ Mild discomfort is okay. ❌ Sharp pain is not.
The movement should never create significant pain. If it does, reduce the range of motion or stop and have your knee evaluated.
🧊 If your knee is actively sore or irritated, icing for 10–15 minutes afterward may help calm symptoms before your next session.
Remember: strong, resilient knees aren't built by avoiding movement—they're built by applying the right amount of movement. When this starts to work….. KEEP DOING IT!!
If knee pain is limiting your walking, workouts, golf, or daily activities, it may be time to identify why those tissues are overloaded instead of simply resting them.

⚠️ Does your low back pain climb UP your back?
😣 Pain just above one hip? 😣 Tightness on one side of your lower back? 😣 Pain that creeps upward next to your spine? 😣 Achy hip that won't seem to loosen up? 😣 Pain that's worse after sitting or standing too long?
It might not be your spine...
👉 One of the most common muscles I find involved is the Quadratus Lumborum (QL)—a deep muscle that helps stabilize your spine and pelvis. When it's overworked, it can refer pain into your low back, hip, buttock, and even up one side of your back.
That's exactly why I use a simple movement I call "Sit, Turn & Lean."
✅ It helps gently lengthen the QL while also improving mobility through the obliques and hip flexors—areas that commonly become stiff from prolonged sitting.
💡 Remember: stretching isn't always the complete answer. If the muscles causing the pain aren't retrained afterward, the tightness often comes right back.
Move better. Feel better. Stay active.

🟢 GOSD: GLUTES ON. SHOULDERS DOWN.
If you sit for hours every day 💻 or sleep curled up with your hips and knees bent 🛏️, your body spends a LOT of time in a flexed position.
Over time, your hip flexors can become stiff and less comfortable with full hip extension.
And your lower back may start picking up the slack. ⚠️

🧠 HERE'S WHY:
One of your major hip flexors—the psoas—attaches along the lumbar spine.
When your hips aren't moving well and your glutes aren't contributing enough, your body may compensate through the pelvis and lower back.
So instead of stretching your back over and over...
Try changing what your body is doing throughout the day. 👇

🍑 GLUTES ON
When standing or walking, lightly engage the glute on the leg that's pushing you forward.
You don't need a hard squeeze. ❌
Just remind the glutes:
"Hey... this is your job."

⬇️ SHOULDERS DOWN
Let your shoulders settle away from your ears.
❌ Don't force them backward. ❌ Don't puff out your chest. ✅ Just reduce the unnecessary tension.
Now put the two together:

🟢 GOSD
🍑 Glutes On ⬇️ Shoulders Down
It's not an exercise.
It's a postural reminder.
💻 At your desk 🚶 While walking 🛒 At the grocery store 🏋️ At the gym 🧍 Standing in line
GOSD.

A simple reminder to get the right muscles involved—and stop asking your lower back and neck to do everything.
📌 Remember it today:

🍑 GLUTES ON. ⬇️ SHOULDERS DOWN. 🟢 GOSD.
⚕️ Persistent or radiating back pain, numbness, weakness, or symptoms that aren't improving deserve an evaluation. Don't assume tight hip flexors are the only cause.

💚 Someone you care about may be living with pain.

They may have been saying:

🤕 "My neck has been bothering me."

🔥 "My back just won't let up."

🦵 "My knee hurts every time I walk."

Too often, people wait months—or even years—before getting answers.

Sometimes, all they need is someone to point them in the right direction.

That's why we created our Member Referral Rewards Program.

When someone you refer completes their first evaluation and provides your name and contact information, you'll become eligible for exclusive member rewards as our way of saying thank you for helping someone begin their journey toward feeling better.
🎁 Member rewards may include: ✅ A complimentary visit ✅ Wellness services ✅ Exclusive member offers ✅ Other appreciation rewards

At MD Fit, we believe the greatest compliment we can receive is your trust.

If we've helped you move better, hurt less, or get back to doing what you love, we'd be honored if you shared that experience with someone who could benefit too.

❤️ Better movement starts with one conversation.

And your referral could be the reason someone finally gets the answers they've been looking for.

🚨 Lower back pain that won't go away?
Or maybe your pain travels...
⚡ Down your leg
🦵 Into the front of your thigh
⬆️ Up your back
The problem may not be your back at all.
It could be tight hip flexors that never get a chance to relax.
Here's one simple habit to practice:
🍑 Turn your glutes on.
Not by squeezing as hard as you can...
Instead, gently alternate glute squeezes like you're walking.
👣 Right glute... 👣 Left glute... 👣 Right... 👣 Left...
Your brain starts remembering that your glutes—not your hip flexors—are supposed to do the work.
While you're sitting...
💺 Keep a gentle squeeze in your glutes.
Not both sides as hard as possible.
Just enough to remind your body they're still there.
Why does this help?
✅ Gives your hip flexors permission to relax
✅ Supports your pelvis
✅ Reduces stress on your lower back
✅ Can decrease pain that travels into the leg or front of the thigh
💡 Many people spend all day sitting, driving, and standing with "sleeping glutes" and overworked hip flexors.
Teaching your glutes to wake up again can change how your back feels throughout the day.
💾 Save this post.
📤 Share it with someone who's always rubbing their lower back.
If your pain keeps returning, an evaluation can help determine whether your hips—not your spine—are driving the problem.
