CPSTs from our lead agency Memorial Health University Medical Center Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah, hosted a Car Seat Safety Check Event to help parents and caregivers feel confident about keeping their little ones safe on every ride!

🩸❤️We had an amazing time at the Savannah Sickle Cell Association’s Walk for Love this past weekend!

Our Safe Kids Savannah team was proud to be part of this wonderful event, sharing important safety information with families and community members!

We were also excited to be joined by staff from our Children’s Hospital Residency Program and Multi-specialty Clinic! Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a great success! ❤️🩸

Avoid unnecessary harm by actively supervising children on playgrounds and teaching them not to push, shove, or crowd on equipment. Choose playgrounds with shock-absorbing surfaces like rubber, mulch, sand, or wood chips, and make sure children wear safe clothing without drawstrings, scarves, jewelry, purses, or helmets that could get caught.

With kids back in school, school zones are busier with lots of cars, buses, bikers, and pedestrians around. It is very crucial that drivers obey the school zone speed limit since it is lower than the actual speed limit. Additionally, drivers should pay attention to what the crossing guard is telling you to do at an intersection. To make sure kids can cross safely, drivers should be mindful that they are not blocking crosswalks. Teach kids to look left, right and left again before crossing the street, especially in front of school buses.
