Check out my new speaker highlight reel!

My summer intern, Nicholas, created this video highlighting some of my prior speaking engagements.

He did a great job! I'm excited to share it with you, and I invite you to share it with decision-makers and event planners who are looking for professional speakers for their corporate Employee Resource Group events, caregiver conferences, wellness retreats, and educational events. November is National Family Caregiver's Month, and I have a few openings left!

Referrals from prior clients and family caregivers are the backbone of my business. Thank you for sharing this post with someone who may be looking for speakers for their upcoming event. https://bit.ly/ElizabethSpeaks

Yesterday marked 6 years since my sweet mom passed away.

Mom's death was very different than my dad's, and I think it's because I experienced so many years (over 10!) of anticipatory grief with Mom.

Anticipatory grief is the emotional distress experienced in anticipation of an impending loss and can manifest with symptoms similar to grief experienced after a death, such as sadness, anxiety, and withdrawal. I used to tell my kids for a dozen years to hug Mimi extra tight, as each day with her was a gift.

We got so many bonus years with my mom, who had several chronic conditions (COPD, diabetes, and heart disease were a few) and limited mobility. The six years she lived after my dad passed were tough and treasured. My older sister Susie took impeccable care of my mom for her last four years.

Besides resembling my mom, I carry on other traits and hobbies. I, too, love to read, write, and share stories. I enjoy movies and board games. I find much joy in a fabulous meal, whether it's a family home-cooked favorite or a new-to-me flavor. I enjoy puzzles, and now I'm enjoying thrifting, which has given me a new appreciation for my mom's passion for antiquing.

Miss you, Mom! ❤️❤️❤️

"The team, whether that's her support at school, therapists, a professional developmental pediatrician or it's a psychiatrist, whoever it is, things are always shifting and changing. It's a very dynamic, ongoing, living and breathing opportunity as a caregiver to manage what I call 'Team Arizona.''' - Susanna Peace Lovell

"Self-care" sometimes doesn't quite cut it. It sounds like bubble baths and face masks when what you're actually navigating is exhaustion, worry, and days that don't stop.

This isn't about pampering. It's about survival.

Somewhere between the appointments, the medications, the advocating, and the middle-of-the-night worry, you got left off the list of people being cared for. But you matter too. Your body, your mind, your energy — they're not unlimited resources, even when it feels like they have to be.

You're allowed to need care too. 💛

Tag a caregiver who needs this reminder.

Susanna Peace Lovell is a single mother, advocate, and certified professional life coach who has spent over 20 years raising her daughter Arizona, who lives with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, and multiple food allergies. She is also a support caregiver for her father, who has undergone several brain procedures — making her caregiving journey multilayered.

In this conversation, Susanna shares about how her Taiwanese cultural background shaped her caregiving experience in profound ways and how that silence influenced her path to becoming a fierce advocate for disability families.

She gets real about her experience with severe postpartum depression and anxiety, the power of taking life one minute at a time, and how journaling has become like oxygen for her survival and growth, especially on those daunting days. We also talk about her ongoing quest to turn down the noise in her life and the soul care practices, including Reiki and meditation, that keep her grounded.
