✨ 2 days until Team MCCP laces up for the Maine Marathon ✨

The marathon is this Sunday, and we would like to introduce you to Shannon and her son, who are running the relay with Team MCCP. Shannon shared:

"Running as part of Team MCCP has been a special event for me over the years. I love when a spectator sees my shirt and gives a cheer for our cause! It’s a way to represent our clinic and our amazing patients. Our patients and families make me so proud. I want everyone to know that these kids are working so hard and how important the community support is.

This is also a moment for me to reflect on how special it’s been to care for the kids and families of the practice over the years, and how grateful I am to be part of this team, not only on the racecourse, but every day. This team adds so much support, inspiration, and fulfillment to my life.

This year, I’m especially excited because my 13-year-old son—who has spectated and cheered me on over the years—will be joining our relay team. I’m so proud that he is inspired and able to join me”

✨ 4 days until Team MCCP laces up for the Maine Marathon ✨

With marathon day approaching, we would like to introduce you to Allison and her son Will. Allison will be running the half marathon, and when asked WHY she shared:

"Running has become much more than exercise for me. As the mom of a child battling cancer, there are days filled with fear, uncertainty, and questions that have no answers. Running gives me somewhere to put that energy. It helps me process the hard days, find strength for the next one, and keep moving forward.

I run to support children and families facing cancer. I run because so many kids would love the opportunity to run, play, and simply feel like themselves again. I run because when I can't control the outcome, I can choose to put one foot in front of the other. Most of all, I run for those who can't. For the children whose bodies are fighting battles far bigger than any race. For the families carrying burdens no family should have to bear.

This race is for Will. It's for every child fighting cancer. And it's for the care teams and programs at MaineHealth Pediatric Cancer Care, Blood Disorders and IV Therapy who support families like ours every step of the way."

At the heart of Team MCCP are the incredible people running, fundraising, and advocating for children and families facing cancer and blood disorders. Meet Maine Children's Cancer Program Fund Advisory Board Member, Jim, who shared why he is running with Team MCCP:

"As a team member and advocate, I can help raise awareness and funding for a critically important cause – one that may someday help eliminate childhood cancer. I also want to help families of children going through treatment and let them know they're not alone in their journey.

By running, fundraising, and sharing their stories, I hope to offer even a small measure of support and remind them that there are people who care deeply about what they are going through."

With your generosity, we raised an incredible $86,000 for Maine Children's Cancer Program Fund, making a meaningful difference for local children and families facing cancer and blood disorders.

On Saturday, August 29, teams from eight high schools gathered at Mt. Ararat for the 12th annual Drive Out Cancer Field Hockey Tournament! 🏑

More than a tournament, the day was an opportunity for everyone to come together for one shared goal: raising awareness and critical funds for Maine Children's Cancer Program Fund (MCCPF).

Thanks to the incredible support of players, coaches, families and fans, the tournament raised over $16,000 for MCCPF, providing hope to children and families facing cancer and blood disorders across Maine. 💛

There's only TWO more weeks until Team MCCP hits the pavement at the Maine Marathon, and we want to introduce you to Elise and Ellie, oncology nurses at MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital (MHBBC). When asked why they are running with Team MCCP, they told us:

"Every day we care for MaineHealth Pediatric Cancer Care, Blood Disorder and IV Therapy patients who are at MHBBC and we have created such meaningful bonds with those kiddos and their families. They are truly an inspiration to us, and we are so excited to be able to support them in this way, too!”

This morning, more than 700 of you joined us to honor the inspiring kids cared for at MaineHealth Pediatric Cancer Care, Blood Disorders, and IV Therapy. Together, we wore our superhero capes to raise awareness for childhood cancer and blood disorders. 💛❤️
