Don't you love the difference in color and texture between these two oils?

We usually recommend storing oils in darker bottles to protect them from light, but the color tells us so much that it feels like a shame to hide it. We also go through our oils pretty quickly at the studio, so we feel okay breaking that rule.

On the left we have raspberry seed oil, with that beautiful golden amber hue that comes from its carotenoids and tocopherols (vitamin E). More than half of its fatty acid profile is linoleic acid, which makes it lightweight and easy for skin to absorb while still offering really meaningful protective qualities.

On the right is tamanu oil, nicknamed "green gold" and prized for centuries in Pacific island traditional medicine. It is much thicker and denser, and you can see that just by looking at the two bottles side by side. This oil contains a rich complex of fatty acids alongside a powerful unsaponifiable fraction, including calophyllic acid, a compound unique to this plant. Its deep color comes from polyphenols concentrated during the fermentation and cold pressing process, and those same compounds are a big part of what makes it so therapeutically potent.

Lilac might have been my first plant medicine but Jasmine was the essential oil that made me fall in love with aromatherapy.

I love that I get to share that magic with you.

It's heartbreaking to know that as difficult as the symptoms can be, one of the most painful aspects of having fibro is a society that doesn't quite understand. I've heard horror story after horror story of loved ones and even doctors who don't believe, think they are exaggerating, or even blame symptoms on a need to lose weight.

Bottom line: Fibromyalgia is real. It's incredibly difficult to diagnose (often taking between 5 and 7 years), there is no known cure, and it's often misunderstood—even by doctors.

But your understanding and support can actually go a long way and have a powerful impact in helping your loved one manage their symptoms.

If you have a loved one with Fibro, I hope you’ll take a moment to read this. Feel free to ask questions in the comments.

If you live with fibro you’re not alone. Please feel free to tag or share this with someone you wish understood you a little better.

Yesterday I spent Mother's day with my mom and grandma at the massage studio.
Together we chose herbs, oils, salts, and the anxiety ease essential oil from to make a hand scrub just for them.

I happened to have freah lemon grass, the studio smelled amazing.

Onces we scrubbed our hands, they got to do a paraffin wax dip, and a hand massage.

I forgot how comforting and nice the dip is. Thier hands felt amazing after and the heat feels so nice.

Grandma opted for a much needed full body massage after with the same essential oil blend, rosehip seed and cucumber oil..

There is something a little more magical when you get to work with the people you love most.

It's been a long time since I offered the paraffin wax in the studio. Should I bring it back?

Flowers floating in water give me a delirious amount of joy. I can't tell you why, but it certainly feels like more joy is needed now more than ever.

Is there something simple or silly that just makes your heart happy?

My love of oils probably started when I was just a little kid. Taking a long hot bath with my favorite cassette playing and choosing a bath oil bead was one of my favorite things even at 8 or 9. It always felt special when my mom let me add to the tub and I couldn't wait until it broke apart and I could rub that oil on my skin in the warm water.

Today I stock the studio with my favorite botanical oils meant to nurture and nourish during your massage.

We custom blend your massage oil with these based on a number of factors and add your favorite aromatherapy for the perfect spa experience.

Here is a fresh scalp oil with rosehip seed, baobab, and argan oil. It's warmed and ready for our breathe and bloom scalp ritual. While we use this house blend for your scalp, we also chose specially formulated botanical treasures from for your face. Here the wild biome facial clensing oil and the Astera balm.

So luxurious! #

Want to get a little bit nerdy with me?
Botanical oils are truly so cool to me and I love that I get to share them with you every session.

Every botanical oil is made up of a chain of fatty acids and unsaponifiables.

🌿Fatty acids are kind of like the molecular building blocks of an oil
🌿Unsaponifiables are the components within an oil that remain intact even if you were to make a soap with them. They make up a small % but include things like vitamins or sterols..

While many oils are made of similar fatty acids it the combination and amount paired with the unsaponifiables that make them each unique.
It tells the story of where they grow and how they might benefit us.

Yes, even seed oils.

In this photo we can look at the fatty acid make up of one of our favorite oils Argan. What's really cool is that it is made up of almost 50% oleic acid with linoleic acid not far behind. This tells us so much about argan.

We also know from this page(created by my favorite oil mentor ) that argan is high in vitamins E and has squalene, antioxidants, carotenes, and polyphenols.

In contrast cucumber seed oil has 60 to 68% linoleic fatty acid and only 14% oleic fatty acid.

And pomegranate seed oil has 70-76% punicic acid ,which is a fatty acid named for and found almost only found within pomegranates.

Each is a puzzle piece of an oil that can tell us what it is and how we might want to use it on our skin or in our diets.

Would you like to hear more about each oil and why we should love them?
