Melissa is a Administrative Assistant here at McDowell's Pharmacy. She assists with billing, cleaning, customer support, LTC duties, med refills, and financials. Her top recommendation to patients are probiotics and vitamins because they help boost your immune system and help you stay healthy Melissa's favorite part about working here is the community and family feel.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys reading, spending time with family, shopping, and going to church.

125 Years of Continuous Care. Four Generations of Service.

As we celebrate 125 years of continuous operation, we're proud to share a photo representing four generations of McDowell pharmacists who have served our community: N.O. McDowell Sr., N.O. "Spec" McDowell Jr., Joe McDowell, and Thomas McDowell.

Our story began in 1901 as E.T. Whitehead Drug. In 1922, N.O. McDowell Sr. purchased the pharmacy, beginning a family legacy that has continued for more than a century. Through changing times, advances in healthcare, and generations of patients, McDowell's Pharmacy has remained committed to the same values: personal service, trusted advice, and caring for our neighbors like family.

Today, as we honor 125 years of continuous operation and more than 100 years of McDowell family ownership, we are grateful to the patients, families, and community members who have entrusted us with their care.

Be on the lookout throughout the year for more historical photos, stories, memorabilia, and special events as we celebrate 125 years of serving Scotland Neck and surrounding areas, half of the 250 years our nation will celebrate with America's Semiquincentennial in 2026.

Celebrating 125 Years of McDowell's Pharmacy

Since 1901, McDowell’s Pharmacy has been honored to serve Scotland Neck and the surrounding communities. Reaching this 125-year milestone is a testament to the loyalty, trust, and support of our patients, as well as the generations of families and friends we have had the privilege of serving.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey over the past 125 years. Your support has made this achievement possible, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community for many years to come.
