Last day of the early bird special for summer camps at Confluence May 25!

🌿 Woodland Magic Camp🌿

Ages 6–9 | August 10-14 | 9am–3pm

What if the forest is alive and waiting to talk with us?
Woodland Magic Camp invites young explorers into a week of imagination, nature connection, and playful discovery in the woods surrounding Confluence Arts Center.

Through storytelling, art, movement, observation, and nature play, children will explore the idea that the natural world is alive with relationship and possibility. We will practice the art of noticing — listening to the wind, observing tiny details in plants and insects, and wondering about the mysteries of the living world.

Together we will explore questions like:
• Is everything in nature alive?
• What might trees, stones, and rivers have to say?
• What happens when we slow down enough to notice the magic around us?

Children will create art, invent stories, explore the land, and collaborate on a whimsical experience inspired by their discoveries throughout the week.

✨ The week culminates in a playful sharing for families inspired by the magic of the forest.

🌿Camp highlights:
•Nature exploration and observation
•Storytelling and imaginative play
•Art and creative expression
•Movement and embodied nature connection
•Collaborative creation
•Building a sense of belonging in the natural world

Enjoy a full afternoon of song, dance and music classes, or drop to one or two. We’ll close the day with an intimate Mbira concert in the evening with the artists. ✨12:15-1:30 | Dance with Rujeko
The intricacies offered in Zimbabwean rhythmic patterns will inform our movement vocabulary in this workshop. Zimbabwean dance offers tools for internalizing rhythm through repetition and duration while deepening our individual grounded and weighted movement. ✨2:30-3:45 | Drum Class with Napoleon
Napoleon will lead a workshop to teach Zimbabwean rhythms that connect us to the powerful energy of the drum. Ancient Zimbabwean rhythms work to introduce us to community, through both joy and prayer. Bring a hand drum of any kind, no previous experience with Zimbabwean music required. Beginners welcome!

✨4:30-5:30pm | Mbira Concert

Meet Cynthia King, the facilitator and guide for our first offering of Season 5 at Confluence! We’ve had the honor of getting to know and learn from Cynthia over the last year, and we’re so delighted to host her this year. She is bright light and holds a wealth of knowledge about plant medicine (and so much more)!

In Cynthia’s words:
“I am a Lumbee woman of the Cheraw people of North Carolina, Back Swamp Clan. I have studied and worked with herbs for over 30 years. I am a trained medicine gatherer, traditional native health facilitator, mother of 5, grandmother of 5, entrepreneur, owner of “The Herb Shed” and creator of “Native Forest Remedies”. I am honored for this opportunity to teach and learn”.

Join us in the barn May 30 for Cynthia’s Spring Herbal Aromatherapy workshop exploring “Particles of Possibility,” aka, energetic hygiene, rooted in indigenous plant wisdom. Learn to work with the Purifiers, Balancers, and Graces—plant allies that cleanse, harmonize, and support emotional integration. This immersive day includes gentle movement and sound medicine with Brianna and Andre, offering embodied tools for clearing and restoring your energy. Participants will create and take home a clearing spray, pocket smudge, and anointing oil. Ideal for caregivers, practitioners, and anyone seeking grounded, holistic support for navigating today’s energetic landscape.
