One of the biggest mistakes I see is treating every sign of oil with stronger cleansers, more acids, and more exfoliation.

The problem? Over-stripping can compromise the skin barrier and increase water loss — leaving skin oily, tight, irritated and dehydrated at the same time. And Arizona’s dry air and constant A/C don’t exactly help.

The goal isn’t to strip your skin. It’s to understand what it actually needs.

The study that made an entire generation afraid of estrogen wasn’t testing what most people think it was.

In 2002, the Women’s Health Initiative was actually two trials running side by side. One group took estrogen combined with a synthetic progestin. The other took estrogen alone.

The breast cancer signal that made headlines everywhere came from the combined group. The estrogen-alone group told a different story entirely, lower breast cancer rates, not higher, confirmed in long-term follow-up.

So what actually drove the original risk? The data points to the progestin, not the estrogen. Not every progestin behaves the same way in the body.

This isn’t a blanket case for hormone therapy. It’s a case for an individual conversation instead of a headline from twenty years ago deciding it for you.
