This Digestion Mudra is a simple, grounding practice designed to support both physical digestion & emotional processing. By gently holding the arms close to the body, you’re helping stimulate energy pathways connected to the digestive system while also signaling safety & calm to the nervous system. This shifts the body toward a more relaxed, rest-and-digest state.

Many people find this mudra especially helpful for easing tension in the belly & creating space to process what feels “hard to swallow,” both physically & emotionally. It’s a quiet reminder that digestion isn’t just about food. It’s also about how we take in information & move through life.

From personal experience, II’ve used this during times of digestive cramping or discomfort & have felt noticeable shifts toward calm &ease. With slow, steady breathing, it can help soothe the stomach, regulate the nervous system, & support emotional release when things feel stuck or overwhelming.

✨ How to Practice:
-Sit comfortably with a tall, relaxed spine
-Rub your hands together to create energy
-Place left palm facing up & right palm facing down, gently holding your forearms
-Relax your shoulders & soften your face
-Breathe slowly & hold Mudra for 3–5 minutes
Optional 3-Point Breath addition w/ mudra:
Inhale for 5 • Hold for 5 • Exhale for 5

What if a simple hand posture could signal to your brain that you are safe?

This is Apan Vayu Mudra, often called the “Heart Mudra.” In yogic tradition, it’s used to support the physical and emotional heart, AND there’s also a physiological reason it can help with anxiety and grief.

How to do it:
• Gently fold your index finger down toward the base of your thumb.
• Bring the tips of your thumb, middle finger, and ring finger together.
• Let your pinky extend softly.
• Rest your hands on your thighs or over your heart.
• Hold for 3–5 minutes while breathing slowly.
* Inhale gently through your nose, then exhale longer than you inhale with an audible sound of HAAAAAA.

Each fingertip contains dense nerve endings connected to the brain’s sensory cortex. When you apply gentle, steady pressure, you send a predictable signal through the nervous system — and predictability is calming.

In acupressure and meridian theory, the middle and ring fingers are associated with the heart and pericardium meridians — pathways linked not only to circulation but to emotional regulation, grief, and heartbreak. Gentle stimulation here may help activate the parasympathetic nervous system (your “rest and restore” state), slowing the heart rate and softening the breath.

There’s something even simpler happening, too:
When you hold a mudra, you:
• Anchor attention in the body
• Create steady sensory input
• Naturally lengthen your exhale
All three send cues of safety to the amygdala — the part of the brain scanning for threat.

Grief and anxiety often show up as tightness or ache in the chest. This small gesture becomes a physical reminder to the emotional heart: soften, ground, safety.

True healing doesn’t come from trying to change someone else—it comes from recognizing your own worth and standing firm in your boundaries, even if it means letting go of certain connections and walking away.

But let’s be real: unresolved trauma can make this incredibly hard. It often leaves us feeling guilty for choosing ourselves or afraid that setting boundaries will make others angry or push them away. These fears can hold us back, keeping us in patterns of over-giving and self-sacrifice.
