𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑵𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑹𝑺 𝑻𝑯𝑼𝑹𝑺𝑫𝑨𝒀! 💍💒🥂The Lackawanna County Register of Wills MARRIAGE LICENSE BUREAU will offer 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗢𝗰𝘁. 𝟮𝟮, from 4 to 7 p.m. During those extended hours, the office also will provide certified copies of existing marriage licenses to obtain a Real I.D. 🪪 Applicants must make an appointment by calling 570-963-6702.

Couples must fill out an application online and both people applying must appear in person. Please bring current photo identifications. Cost is $70.

DEMENTIA & THE FIRST RESPONSE 🧑‍🚒🚨🚑 The Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, along with their community partners, will host 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲: 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, an informative training session designed to equip emergency personnel with strategies for helping individuals living with dementia. The event will feature workshops, a panel discussion and a local agency vendor showcase. Light refreshments will be served.

📢 🚙 The Dunmore Driver License Center, 81 Keystone Industrial Park Drive, will be temporarily closed from Oct. 26 to Nov. 23. ⬇️ Details below.

🚨 ATTENTION DRIVERS! 🚨

PennDOT’s Dunmore Driver License Center, located at 81 Keystone Industrial Park Drive in Dunmore, will be temporarily closed from October 26 through November 23 while crews complete improvements to the facility’s parking lot, curbs, paving and stormwater drainage system. The upgrades will expand parking and improve safety and accessibility for customers.

The center is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, November 24.

During the closure, the following Driver License Centers will be available for customers:

📍 Honesdale: 18 Collan Park, Honesdale

📍 Tunkhannock: 600 Hunter Highway, Tunkhannock

📍 Wilkes-Barre: 1085 Hanover Street, Wilkes-Barre

All three locations will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. during the closure.

If you have a driving exam scheduled at the Dunmore location during this time, PennDOT will contact you to make alternative arrangements.

The Lackawanna County Department of Emergency Services is seeking applicants for a 𝟵𝟭𝟭 𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦. A 911 Telecommunicator answers emergency and non-emergency calls, gathers information and dispatches appropriate emergency services to those in need. They are the crucial link between the public and first responders during emergencies. Applications close Oct. 23.

WATCH ▶️ Commissioners Thom Welby and Chris Chermak on Thursday spoke at the Lackawanna County Commission for Women’s annual bipartisan Legislative Breakfast at La Buona Vita, 200 Reilly St., Dunmore. The breakfast celebrated leadership, service and commitment to community.

The program celebrated Pennsylvania State Senator Rosemary Brown for her leadership and service and honored The Wright Center for Community Health for 50 years of care, training and community transformation. Special tributes also were paid posthumously to the lasting contributions of two long-time board members – Maureen Pesavento and Sister Maryla Farfour, IHM.

Artist Brian Tresca of Lone Goat Studio this month held an Art Expression Workshop at the North Pocono Senior Community Center. Tresca works alongside Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging each month to host a workshop at the center located at 12 John J. Michaels Drive in Covington Twp. This month’s workshop focused on creating a Halloween painting including an image from Edvard Munch's “The Scream” painting.
