You may have noticed we’ve been busier than ever, shorter on staff, and turning away Rx business, Brands and GLP-1s!🤔
☝️All because Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) pay us under the cost to acquire these medications. Patients are aghast when we bring this up. They didn’t know they were costing us money 💸 They imagined keeping all of their Rx business with us was good for business. Thanks to Nebraska LB 198 that allows us open up this conversation (this used to be prevented by gag-clauses in the contracts) and to refuse filling an RX that is paid below cost.
💁🏼‍♀️ Does that improve care for patients? NO! It breaks up the care coordination (synchronized Rx filling and adherence packaging) we have become known for in Dodge and surrounding counties BUT it does give us a better chance to stay in business and continue to change the model of pharmacy.

🤷🏼‍♀️ What can you do as the patient? When we refuse to fill your Rx, get mad! 😡 Not at us, please 🙏
1) 📋Fill out a PBM complaint for and submit to the NE Dept of Insurance https://doi.nebraska.gov/pharmacy-benefit-manager-pbm-complaints
2) 📞 Call up your state senator, tell them what is happening to your ability to use your local pharmacy and how important it is that we stay open.
3) ☎️ Contact your US representatives to support bills like H.R.6610 to advocate for fair reimbursement to keep your local pharmacy open.
