Most founders are spending their days doing work that no longer belongs to them.

They’re solving operational problems, answering team questions, approving every decision, and staying buried in the day-to-day.

The result? The business grows, but the founder becomes the bottleneck.

During Day 3 of SPARK, we talked about a leadership shift that changes everything:

The CEO role is not to run the business. It’s to build the business.

A true CEO has three critical responsibilities:

1️⃣ Think and plan at the highest level.

2️⃣ Grow and mentor the team that will carry the vision forward.

3️⃣ Build a world-class brand that creates long-term relevance and demand.

That’s it.

Notice what’s not on the list: putting out fires, managing every task, or being involved in every decision.

That doesn’t mean founders must completely step away from the work they love. Many leaders continue coaching, treating patients, or serving clients because it keeps them connected to the customer experience and market realities.

The difference is that they do it by choice, not because the business depends on them to survive.

If your company can’t move forward without your constant involvement, your next level of growth isn’t a marketing problem.

It’s a leadership evolution.

What if the thing standing between you and your next level of growth isn’t strategy, it’s confidence?

One of the greatest privileges of the work we do is watching women transform into leaders they never thought they could become.

Like so many founders, Heidi started as a skilled provider. She knew how to care for patients. She knew how to deliver results. But no one taught her how to lead a team, run a business, manage growth, or step into the role of CEO.

And that’s the reality for so many entrepreneurs.

You don’t go to school to learn how to navigate difficult conversations, inspire a team, make strategic decisions, or build a company that can thrive without your constant involvement.

Those skills are developed over time.
What inspires us most about Heidi’s journey isn’t just the growth of her business, it’s the growth of her belief in herself.

From questioning whether she was capable of leading to confidently taking her seat at tables she once felt intimidated by.

That’s what happens when you invest in your growth.

Your business grows because you grow.
If you’re waiting until you feel fully ready, fully confident, or fully qualified, you’ll be waiting forever.

The women creating extraordinary businesses aren’t fearless.

They’re simply willing to do hard things before they feel ready.

And that’s exactly where transformation begins.

As your business grows, one of the most important leadership questions you can ask is:

Do I have the right people in the right seats?

So many founders assume growth problems are people problems. But often, the issue isn’t that you have bad team members, it’s that you haven’t intentionally aligned their strengths, capacity, and responsibilities with what the business needs today.

A team member who was perfect for your startup phase may struggle in a more structured, growth-focused environment. Another person may be capable of so much more but is sitting in a role that doesn’t allow their strengths to shine. Sometimes the answer is development. Sometimes it’s repositioning. And sometimes it’s recognizing that the business has evolved beyond a particular fit.

The most scalable organizations aren’t built by holding onto outdated roles or avoiding difficult conversations.

They’re built by leaders who take ownership of their people strategy.

Your team structure should evolve as your company evolves.

As Jim Collins wrote in Good to Great, getting the right people in the right seats creates the foundation for sustainable growth.

The question is: have you been intentional enough about where everyone is sitting?

We are entering a new era of female leadership.

One where women are not just building businesses… but building real wealth, real companies, real legacy.

And the truth is, the old frameworks are not designed for where you’re going.

They weren’t built for a woman who is: leading a team, growing a company, building a fulfilling life, and holding all of it at once.

So instead of trying to fit into those models…
we’re rewriting them.

Stay tuned for a big announcement July 1st. KLC has been working hard behind the scenes to bring a new framework for business growth!

How many problems in your practice are you trying to solve the hard way?

The truth is, some of the challenges that keep owners and practice managers stuck for months, or even years, could be solved in a single weekend with the right framework, the right guidance, and the right people in the room.

Most of what I learned came through trial and error, mistakes, and lessons that took far longer than they needed to.

That’s exactly why we created the Chicago Owner + Practice Manager Leadership Intensive.

This isn’t another conference filled with inspiration and notebooks full of ideas you’ll never implement.

It’s two days focused on solving the real issues holding practices back: communication, accountability, role clarity, leadership, operational ex*****on, and growth.
Because most practices don’t need more information.

They need implementation.

And sometimes the breakthrough you’ve been chasing all year can happen in one weekend.

One of the biggest breakthroughs from Day 2 of SPARK was this: every decision inside your business is shaped by what has been clearly defined, or what has been left open-ended.

When roles, priorities, and decision-making authority are vague, people either wait for direction or make decisions based on their own assumptions. Both create bottlenecks. Both slow growth.

Boundaries aren’t about control. They’re about clarity.

They define who owns what, where authority lives, and which decisions no longer need to land on the owner’s desk. When boundaries are established, leadership can be distributed throughout the organization. Conversations become more productive. Decisions happen faster. Teams stop spinning on the same questions. And leaders gain the capacity to focus on the areas that drive growth.

If you’ve been wondering why everything still seems to depend on you, this conversation is exactly why.

SPARK is helping practice owners and managers build the leadership systems that create accountability, alignment, and sustainable growth.

And the best part? There’s still time to join us.

If you’re ready to stop being the bottleneck and start building a business that can move without your constant involvement, drop “SPARK” below and we’ll send you the details

When a key team member leaves, it’s easy to focus on what you’ve lost.

The knowledge they took with them, responsibilities that now fall back on your plate, and the uncertainty of what comes next.

But sometimes the most valuable lessons in leadership come from the moments that feel the most uncomfortable.

In this clip from Part 1 of our panel replay on the , we discuss a perspective shift that every leader needs when navigating team turnover.

Instead of asking, “How do I replace this person?” ask, “What can I learn from this experience?”

Often, what feels like a disruption in the moment becomes the catalyst for building a better team, a better culture, and a better business.

One of the most important questions I asked on Day 1 of SPARK was this:

Why do you show up and do what you do every single day?

No one is tapping you on the shoulder each morning and telling you to get out of bed and go build your business.

You choose to.

And managers, the same is true for you. You have options. Yet every day, you choose to show up for the leader you work with and the vision you’re helping build.

There’s a reason for that.

When businesses start to feel heavy, when growth feels slower than expected, or when the pressure of leadership starts closing in, it’s easy to forget why you started in the first place.

That’s why I believe every owner and every practice manager needs to regularly reconnect with their purpose.

You weren’t called to build a business just to create more work for yourself.

You were called to create impact.

The world doesn’t need another copy of someone else.

It needs you. Your vision. Your leadership. Your unique calling.

Sometimes the answer isn’t working harder. Sometimes it’s lifting your head up, remembering who you are, and resourcing yourself with the people, tools, and support needed to bring that vision to life.

SPARK is helping owners and practice managers do exactly that.

And there are still 4 days left to join us live.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in business is that growth doesn’t come from constantly adding more.

It comes from clarity.

On Day 1 of SPARK, I shared that building a successful business really comes down to three things:

✨ Clarity
✨ Prioritization
✨ Focus

Notice what’s missing from that list: more certifications, more education, more strategies, or more information.

Those things matter, but if you want to create real transformation in your business, you first have to get clear on what you’re building and why.

Recently, I’ve been doing a major cleanout of my closet. For years, I kept buying more because I couldn’t find what I already had. Everything was packed so tightly together that I could only see what was right in front of me.

I see so many business owners doing the exact same thing.

A challenge comes up, and instead of uncovering the potential that already exists inside the business, we add another service, another device, another offer, another idea.

As visionaries, we can become addicted to the next great idea before giving the current one time to grow, mature, and produce results.

What if the next level isn’t found in adding more?

What if it’s found in getting clear enough to maximize what you already have?

And the best part? SPARK is just getting started. There are still 4 days left to join us live.
