Most founders are spending their days doing work that no longer belongs to them.
They’re solving operational problems, answering team questions, approving every decision, and staying buried in the day-to-day.
The result? The business grows, but the founder becomes the bottleneck.
During Day 3 of SPARK, we talked about a leadership shift that changes everything:
The CEO role is not to run the business. It’s to build the business.
A true CEO has three critical responsibilities:
1️⃣ Think and plan at the highest level.
2️⃣ Grow and mentor the team that will carry the vision forward.
3️⃣ Build a world-class brand that creates long-term relevance and demand.
That’s it.
Notice what’s not on the list: putting out fires, managing every task, or being involved in every decision.
That doesn’t mean founders must completely step away from the work they love. Many leaders continue coaching, treating patients, or serving clients because it keeps them connected to the customer experience and market realities.
The difference is that they do it by choice, not because the business depends on them to survive.
If your company can’t move forward without your constant involvement, your next level of growth isn’t a marketing problem.
It’s a leadership evolution.
