My latest newsletter – Now, we begin again. ✨

Lately, I’ve been basking in the first yoga sutra, 1.1: atha yoga anuśāsanam, which approximately translates to: “Now we begin the practice – or the study – of yoga.”

Today's favorite thing, thanks to the NYTimes 'The Good List': Traffic Music! 🎶 🚗 🚌 🚓 🚙 🎶 ~ "Real traffic... Every car that crosses the line plays a note, and the music is being made in your browser as they go past."

Choose a freeway. Choose your instruments. Listen and enjoy.
Brilliant. Check it out. 🧘‍♀️

A live traffic camera on the US-101 in Studio City, playing itself as music in your browser. Every car that crosses the line is a note.

My latest newsletter: The Backpack 🎒☮

I’ve been reflecting on accumulated stress lately. The way life keeps piling things on, one at a time – sometimes small, sometimes not so small – until you’re stooped over, barely able to carry the load. You didn’t even realize it had become so heavy.

I'm not only a yoga nerd, friends – I'm also a Pilates nerd. 🤓 Pilates makes a wonderful complement to yoga – especially for supporting core strength and balance as we age. Yay for me for joining the 250 Club at ! 🎉 Thanks, Nene, for a fun class today!

Your Yoga Practice is Bigger Than You Think - my latest newsletter ✨🙏✨

It makes sense that, for many of us, āsana – the physical postures – has been the entry point to the practice. Indeed, this was my own introduction to yoga once upon a time.

"Today" by

Today I'm flying low and I'm
not saying a word.
I'm letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep.

The world goes on as it must,
the bees in the garden rumbling a little,
the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.
And so forth.

But I'm taking the day off.
Quiet as a feather.
I hardly move though really I'm traveling
a terrific distance.

Stillness. One of the doors
into the temple.

✨

The first reveal from my June photoshoot with the lovely .rose.ocean 🌹 – Deep gratitude her for the collaboration, space holding, guidance, and pure talent in capturing so many incredible images.

What is the kosha model? And why is it so central to yoga therapy? – My latest newsletter 🧅🌀🐚🌈

One of the things that makes yoga therapy distinct from studio yoga classes, psychotherapy, physical therapy, or massage is the intentional way we work with the kosha model.
