Songs with 100-120 beats per minute are the right tempo for Hands-Only CPR ❣️

If a teen or adult collapses, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest. In a cardiac emergency, anyone can help save a life.

Knowing CPR saves lives and Mike is living proof. 🌟

Mike was in the garage while his wife, Sara, was elsewhere in the house. As they were getting ready to leave for church, Sara went to find him and discovered him unresponsive. Without hesitation, Sara relied on the CPR skills she learned at work and began chest compressions while their son called 911. 👏

Sara continued providing lifesaving care until emergency responders arrived and took over. Mike’s recovery is a powerful reminder of just how critical those first few moments can be. ❣️

During CPR & AED Awareness Week, let Mike and Sara’s story inspire you. Learn Hands-Only CPR or refresh your skills...you never know when you might save a life. ❤️

Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere. When someone close by steps in and starts CPR, survival chances can double or even triple.

You don’t need medical training to save a life with CPR. You need knowledge, courage and willingness to act. The power is in your hands. 🙌

We're excited to welcome George Huang to the American Heart Association's Washington team as a development director supporting the Heart Walk campaign.

In his own words, "I am excited to build powerful partnerships and drive progress for research and initiatives that improve health outcomes. I look forward to collaborating with diverse stakeholders to expand impact and bring innovative solutions to the communities we serve."

Prior to joining the American Heart Association, he led the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure: Pacific Northwest, a cycling fundraiser that mobilized Washingtonians in support of diabetes research and care. Earlier, he worked at Goldman Sachs, supporting corporate governance and partnering closely with the firm’s Board of Directors. He's also currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at the University of Pennsylvania, further strengthening his commitment to public service and health advancement.

Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, fishing and tennis. Welcome to the team, George! ♥️

Rob Hoadley was having a normal day when he walked into a boardroom at work for a construction meeting. Next thing he knew, he was waking up in a hospital after having gone into cardiac arrest.

Thanks to coworkers in that boardroom who sprung into action starting CPR and contacting emergency services, Rob is alive today and an advocate for cardiac arrest preparedness. He recently shared his story of survival at the Puget Sound Hard Hats with Heart Celebration, serving as a reminder of why we want even more individuals and organizations to be ready to act in the case of a cardiac arrest when every second matters.

Thank you, Rob, for sharing your journey and passion with us!
