If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being a woman in her 50s it’s that our bodies are prone to change in unpredictable ways. At best, it can feel novel and unsettling, and at worst it can feel terrifying and panic inducing. So many women come into my practice complaining of mood changes, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, temperature changes, weight gain, brain fog, loss of libido, and more. They feel like their bodies are betraying them and strategies that they thought were working before are not working now. But here’s the good news..... our bodies are built to transition through different phases of life and we can do it with grace and dignity. I mean, we all survived puberty, didn’t we??? All day long we’re inundated with confusing (and often contradictory) messages about ways to fight against the reality of aging. And while more research and communication about perimenopause and menopause is long overdue and certainly needed, I’m still not convinced that we’re focusing on the things that are most practical and helpful for women who are going through it RIGHT NOW. That’s why I’m offering a 4-week online course that brings women together in a supportive community to better navigate this unique phase of life. See the link in my bio for more info.
