I am so, so excited to finally let you know what I’ve been working on for the last 2 years. It hasn’t been easy growing and nurturing 2 businesses the last year and a half but I have so much love, passion, and creativeness here in the beauty and wellness space…it’s all worth it! High Maintenance continues to grow into such a loving, beautiful space of beauty, and I am grateful for all of you that continue to allow my team and myself to offer you this space. Thru years of seeing clients for facials skincare, and waxing there was a missing piece in beauty, and it is accessibility and affordability.  So, I partnered with my daughter, Willow and we created LUMINATI! I am so proud of how this space for beauty has revealed itself. Luminati is a space for community beauty and artist to come together, we have a whole team of estheticians, artist, creative and soul nurtures we could not have done this without.  We offer Express Facials, Waxing, Good for you Products and Clothing and Jewelry from young, emerging artist.

🦋 Waxing doesn't need to painful, we make ever effort to ensure you get the results you need and a process that is comfortable! For your most sensitive areas we start by creating a protective barrier between your skin and the wax by applying a layer of soothing oil, then our Lavender and Azulene infused hard wax is applied by our fabulous trained estheticians. The wax shrink-wraps the hair, allowing for removal without the uncomfortable sensation caused by lifting the skin. 🦋✨
For optimal results here are a few tips: Pre-Waxlet your hair grow out at least three wax from last shave or waxlet us trim your hair don’t use any topicals that exfoliate the skin for at least 5 days pre wax 🦋
Post Wax No exposure to excessive heat for 24 hours if you’re prone to ingrown, use exfoliating mitts, dry brush, or an ingrown solution such as 2 weeks after your wax start exfoliating to prevent ingrown for smooth skin we also love a lactic acid or glycolic acid lotion from 🦋

DEAR FRIENDS,
Well it has been quite a year, hasn't it…an unprecedented time, like nothing I’ve experienced in the 18 years since opening High Maintenance. Life in 2020 became a roller coaster ride, never knowing what to expect around the next bend. I used the months of March and April to recharge myself and allow my team to do the same; I felt it best to store energy rather than spend time on social media and emailing. I read a lot, took classes, studied, and nourished my mind and body.

In May, I invited my team to gather through Zoom for education and connection. Little did I know that two of my estheticians were in the planning stages of leaving High Maintenance to open their own space, with a third to follow. Many emotions flooded me—hurt and shock, mainly. I dedicate many hours to training every esthetician who comes to work for me, and personally assist them with building a clientele base. Naturally, people move on and explore different avenues for themselves, but it was very painful for me nonetheless.

I feel fortunate to work with the amazing team members who have been with me over the years and through this pandemic. We are all looking forward to welcoming new estheticians to our team soon, and to sharing new services with you this spring.

One of my greatest blessings, of course, is my wonderful clients. I am heartened by the support and generosity each of you has given my business and team members, and I deeply appreciate all the uplifting messages I have received from many of you during our shutdown. I hope this letter finds you well and that we stay connected.

The stillness of the pandemic has given us time to sit with ourselves and listen to what we really want our lives to represent and honor, moving forward. You learn with every dip in the roller coaster that sends your heart racing; you learn and you breathe, and the roller coaster trudges around another bend and up the next incline.

We love, we learn, and we move forward, one foot in front of the other.
