Screen Time Lifeline

Screen Time Lifeline A place for digital wellbeing with a social justice lens.

I have a lot of opinions about the revelations swirling around Facebook and their subsidiaries right now. In fact, have been expressing them for years in my feed below, my newsletter and my blog. In a nutshell: none of these revelations are surprising, and they are likely only the tip of the iceberg.

Back in June, I decided to stop spending time on Instagram and Facebook and wrote a blog post about it. I’m leaving these posts on my feed for anyone who comes by and wants to know more about Screen Time Lifeline. Moving forward, I will use Instagram as a bulletin board for upcoming events, and that’s about it. Since I stopped scrolling here, the spaciousness and joy in my life has increased exponentially.

When I stepped back from posting, it was humbling and eye-opening to come to terms with how easily I had allowed Instagram to colonize my mind. How acclimated I had become to the habit of harvesting my points-of-view, original ideas, and experiences as “content” to shovel Instagram’s insatiable maw.

Once the trance lifted, I was like “what the hell am doing on social media trying to persuade people to spend less time on social media?” My thoughts are not commodities. I don’t need validation that my ideas or endeavors are worthy of likes or shares.

Join our community of people committed to confronting the ways the tech industry reinforces oppressive dynamics and colonizes our relationships, our world views, our independent thinking, our free will, and our minds: all for profit.

You are cordially invited to go the link in my bio to read my blog posts and sign up for my newsletter.

Much love but no more hashtags,
Christina

Hello friends! Please accept this invitation to join me in holding out hope that it will be safe to travel next March because we all need something to look forward to now that summer is behind us!

I am thrilled to announce that general registration is open for my March 2022 retreat in Mexico. I’m co-hosting this very special, immersive, week-long digital fast and yoga experience with my dear friend Nicole Bratt, an incredible Restorative Yoga teacher and wonderful human.

Here’s the cliff notes version of what we’ve created for you: a week on the warm Pacific coast at the astonishingly beautiful Present Moment Retreat Center. Imagine all the yoga, sunsets, delicious food, relaxation, and sandy beach walks you could wish for in the cozy, chill town of Troncones (just north of Zihuatanejo) and an increasingly rare opportunity to actually unplug and “detox” from phone/computers/tech.

If we learned anything in the past 2 years, it is that life is uncertain, so we have a generous cancellation and refund policy in the event that COIVD cases are surging again next March (🤞🏻🤞🏻 that does not happen)!

All-inclusive packages for this 7-day event start at $2,600 for lodging, food, spa services, excursions and more and we’re offering early bird pricing through November 1 (which saves you $300). Here are the details: https://www.screentimelifeline.com/events/mexico-2022

P.S. I will be leaving social media soon, so if you’d like updates on my work and events, please join my mailing list. You can find a signup link at www.screentimelifeline.com
