At WithinReach, we believe trusted information helps families make informed decisions about their children’s health. 💜

Every vaccine on the childhood immunization schedule has a purpose. Some protect against different diseases soon after they are received, while others build stronger, longer-lasting protection over time. The schedule is based on decades of research about when children are most vulnerable and when vaccines provide the greatest benefit. Learn more in our latest resource.

A decline in Basic Food (SNAP) enrollment doesn't necessarily mean fewer families are experiencing food insecurity.
A recent News Tribune article reports that Washington's Basic Food enrollment has dropped by approximately 33,000 people, even as food banks across the state are seeing increased demand.
When more families are turning to emergency food programs while fewer are enrolled in ongoing nutrition assistance, it's worth asking why. Are families aware they're eligible? Have life circumstances changed? Are administrative barriers making it harder to stay enrolled? Are people unsure where to turn for help?
Whatever the reason, these moments remind us that access isn't just about whether programs exist—it's about whether families can successfully connect to them.
At WithinReach, we see every day how personalized support can make the difference. Through Help Me Grow Washington, our Family Resource Navigators answer questions about Basic Food eligibility, help families understand their options, and connect them with food banks and other local resources when they need immediate support.
As demand continues to evolve, ensuring families can navigate the systems designed to support them is just as important as strengthening those systems themselves.

"I wish more people knew about Help Me Grow. It saves so many phone calls and so much time waiting for people to return calls." — Alicia Brown, Community Health Worker at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health

Healthcare providers focus on the medical side of care, but access to stable housing, food support, and supplies plays just as big a role in a family’s well-being. Community Health Workers are the essential bridge connecting patients to these resources—and Help Me Grow Washington is here to support them.

In our latest conversation, Kate Agyei Yeboah (Help Me Grow WA Partnership Manager) talks with Alicia about the challenges expecting and new parents face, and how a connected statewide network makes navigating resources faster and safer for everyone.
