Puget Sound Skills Center The Puget Sound Skills Center offers high quality career and technical education for high school juniors and seniors across multiple different districts.

We are champions of choice! PSSC offers courses to the following school districts: Highline, Federal Way, Tahoma, and Tukwila. Talk to your counselor about signing up. We are saving a place for you! Currently the Career & Technical Education Programs offered are:

Part 2: Things are getting egg-citing in Sports Medicine! 😂🥚

Our students explored osmosis and diffusion in action by soaking naked eggs in different solutions and observing changes in size, color, and appearance—inside and out! 🌈💧 And yes… they even tested just how bouncy an egg could be! 👀

But this experiment was about more than eggs! 🧪 Students connected their observations to real-world healthcare concepts, including lactose intolerance, sodium levels, blood pressure, and the role of diet and hydration in our body’s fluid balance. 🩺

What’s next? Tonicity, fluid balance, and the clinical applications of IV therapy! 💉

From hands-on experiments to patient-centered care, our future healthcare professionals are learning to understand the body from the inside out! 👩🏿‍⚕️👨🏽‍⚕️🧬

Can our Sports Medicine students make an egg bounce!?! 🥚🤔🏀

PSSC Sports Medicine students are getting hands-on with cell anatomy and membrane transport through the Naked Egg Experiment! From exploring the phospholipid bilayer to investigating osmosis, diffusion, and active transport, our students are seeing cell biology in action. 🔬🧬

Beakers? ✅ Flasks? ✅ Naked eggs? ✅ Bouncing eggs? 👀

But what happens when we leave those eggs in their solutions overnight? Will they grow, shrink, or turn into something egg-straordinary? 🥚✨

In our Behavioral Health class, we practice the Four Pillars: Know Yourself, Learn the Profession, Practice the Skills, and Serve and Lead.
We learn about the brain and how it influences our mental health, emotions, and behavior. We also explore ways to work through challenges, develop healthy coping skills, and build a more positive outlook.
Our program helps prepare us for future careers in counseling, therapy, psychiatric care, and many other professions where we can make a difference in people’s lives! 🧠💙

Watching these students teach, encourage, and occasionally make each other laugh way too hard is a pretty great reminder that great professionals don’t just learn; they lift each other up 💙
