Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in a veterinary hospital setting, including emergency, intensive care, or specialty services, is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating advanced medical equipment, such as ventilators, ECGs, and infusion pumps.

The Academy is forwarding this survey on behalf of an American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Diplomate researching the impact of the use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems on veterinary team members' time and safety. From the researchers:

"During COVID, continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGM) became a major player in managing hospitalized patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (CrVTs) and veterinary assistants were able to reduce exposure to patients, the number of blood draws, and reduce workload. Many hospitals used a hybrid approach where blood glucose measurements were checked along with CGM systems but overall number of blood draws decreased. Veterinary emergency and internal medicine practices have largely transitioned from monitoring spot blood glucose readings in ketotic/ketoacidotic dogs to relying on CGM to guide insulin therapy.

"We are evaluating how this change to CGM systems has affected veterinary team members, including time spent on glucose monitoring, technician safety, and ease of use in hospitalized diabetic ketotic and ketoacidotic dogs.

What You Bring:

Veterinary Technician License (LVT, CVT, or RVT) is required
Foundational veterinary knowledge, including patient restraint, triage, imaging, laboratory skills, and venipuncture.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to stay calm and organized under pressure.
Provide excellent customer service and interact with clients in a manner that supports NIVES mission to provide the highest quality veterinary specialty and emergency medicine for small animals.

What You Bring:
