❣️ When you carry and use Narcan, it’s an act of community care. June 6 was National Naloxone Awareness Day; a time to remember that opioid overdose is preventable and when we stand together, we have the power to protect our people.

❣️ In 2025, we launched the Heroes Carry Narcan Campaign to address the ongoing opioid crisis in Indian Country. We are happy to announce our Heroes Carry Narcan care packages are now available for request from UIOs, Tribal health departments, and other Native-led organizations on our website*.

UIHI is excited to announce that our director, Abigail Echo-Hawk, will be speaking at the 9th Annual Innovation and Technology Law Conference hosted by Seattle University School of Law.

On June 5, the conference will focus on Indigenous Perspectives on AI: Appropriation, Regulation, and Innovation. The event will explore critical issues surrounding AI governance, Indigenous data sovereignty, ethics, and emerging technology. Abigail will speak on the panel discussing Data Sovereignty and the Ethics of AI.

We are with our relatives across the country as they gather and march for our missing and murdered loved ones.

Even though it is exhausting and heartbreaking, our people will never stop fighting. We will never stay silent. We will demand justice for as long as it takes.
