Soulful Medicine

Soulful Medicine Guiding women and teenage girls to unravel beliefs and confusion about food and body in a whole new way. Food is not the problem, food is the symptom.

Are you looking for a new way to heal your relationship with food, body and self? That's what Tara does as an Eating Psychology and Holistic Health Coach. She works with women and teenage girls to help guide them to a new way of living. To a life free from binge eating, digestive issues, chronic dieting, self-hate, body-hate, and self-sabotage. You are worthy of being comfortable in your own skin.

You deserve to have a life that lights you up. Tara was a pharmacist for 12 years. One day she finally came clean with herself and admitted that she wasn't actually helping people heal. Instead she was giving them a bandaid, she was keeping the sick, sick. Offering them nothing more than a way to obscure the deeper issue and question, "Why do people get sick?"

It turns out it isn't as simple as we think. Health and healing are one of our greatest desires and privileges we have as living being. Our current approach to health isn't working. Modern medicine disempowers people. It doesn't educate and empower people to live a healthy life. There is more to health than food and exercise. If counting calories and running marathons were the answer we wouldn't have a $60 billion dollar diet industry. Yes, you read that right, $60 billion! Each person has their own unique story. I believe that our bodies are our messengers. Symptoms become the language our bodies use to communicate with us. Our disease (dis-ease) is a way for us to hear where we are sick, and where we can heal. Our relationship with food and body is a reflection of a deeper relationship with self and with life. Just because you are sick, in pain, over weight, depressed or uninspired doesn't mean there is something wrong with you, it only means there are places that life is calling you to evolve, love and nurture. Instead of restricting our food intake and exercising our butts off it is time to take a different approach to health. As an Eating Psychology coach I address weight concerns, binge eating, overeating, body image challenges, low energy, depression and various nutrition related health concerns. I use Dynamic Eating Psychology and Mind Body Nutrition as part of my coaching. This looks at you as an individual. Your story is yours. Your relationship with food, body and self is different from the next. By learning about you as a unique individual I will be able to help shine the light on your own unique healing path. I look at health with a different perspective on medicine. I look to our own inner wisdom, an infinite source of wealth, and health…honoring the soul. We all have the power to heal. We are all worthy. After struggling with an eating disorder for nearly two decades she know the pain of being uncomfortable in one's own skin, being full of discontent, food obsessed, depressed, low self-worth and the endless fear of fat. My personal healing journey has been to learn to love my body, love myself for who I am, and find peace in my mind (because it can tell me some pretty crazy stuff!). I want nothing more than to help guide teenage girls and women to find the same peace within. I want to stop the body obsession and body hate. I want to help women see their own authentic beauty (both inside and out). We as women have so much more to offer this world than a cookie cutter style body and beauty. It is time that we women showe up in life in a powerful way. To stop obsessing about the number on the scale and calories consumed or burned. It is time to take that power and put it back into the world. Our true power. When we heal ourselves we can heal the world. It starts with you, and Tara would be honored to be a part of your healing journey.

The wise, powerful, ruthless Ruth Bader Ginsburg .bader.ginsburg passes today. Another heavy loss added to the list of 2020.
Thank you for serving our county with such morality, humility, and conviction.
🙏🏼
The quote above ends by her saying, “I hope that day will come when I’m still alive.”
And so... may I step in and make the same wish, for I too hope to see this one day.
To the women out there determined to make the world better.
To all beings, who live with love and generosity, not fear and greed.
May our time come.
Here’s to you RBG!

Don't let your eyes (or society) fool you. What you see, most often is far from the truth. Eating disorders lie in all body types.

There's no one way people with eating disorders look.

Barefoot backyard city gardening... pretending it’s like farming (on a much smaller scale). One of my first memories of growing food was when I was a kiddo, probably 7 or so. I heard that if you planted a potato, you would get more potatoes (turns out there’s more to it then that, but I was a curious kid, and the internet didn’t exist yet!)
🌱
So I went to one of my mom’s flower beds and planted a potato. Time passed... as a kid, it was lifetimes, because I totally forgot about my experiment... Until one day my mom was differing in her flower beds, planting flowers, when so comes upon all these little potatoes! (She had no idea of my experiment).
🌱
I was ecstatic! My little curiosity cane full circle! Today, 35 years later, I am still utterly amazed by the working of nature. The confirmation that there is a cycle and a balance to all things.
Life created life. Love creates abundance.

When I was at the studio to film class on Monday, I was asked if I would like this plant. 😍 When I came home with it beaming, my husband said, “you obviously have plant lover written all over your face.”

Our brains are wired to make sure we are safe and accepted....that's why it is so easy to look outside ourselves. Inevitably we end up comparing. It's been said comparison is the thief of joy...or as Marie Forleo says, it's drinking the compareschlager.... we feel pretty crappy after doing it. So, this is my gentle reminder. It's okay to look inward.

Taking a moment to reflect on this powerful quote & wishing you all peaceful week 💖

Some days the mind is like a gently flowing stream. Calm. Focused. Present. Other days the mind is like a raging river. Crashing. Uncontrolled. Destructive. On days when I don’t feel safe in my mind, I shift outward to things that bring me back to that gentle space. I look for small details in simple things. Nature always brings me back. Where I find my feet on the earth once again. No longer crashing. Tumbling. Out of control. The breath flows. The heart centers. And the world seems right again. @ Seattle, Washington
