Can anyone guess what my next charcoal project is? 👀
Here's a close-up sneak peek of the latest piece on the drawing board. It's still early, but there's already enough detail showing that someone might recognize it.
Drop your guesses in the comments! No hints yet—I want to see who figures it out first. 😏

A close-up look at the current charcoal piece I'm finishing up.
At this stage, the drawing is essentially complete. Now it's all about refining textures, pushing subtle value shifts, sharpening edges where they matter, and adding those final details that bring everything together.
The eye is always one of my favorite areas to work on. A few small adjustments in contrast, reflections, and texture can completely change the feeling of a portrait.

Thinking about opening up charcoal portrait commissions.
I spent some time this past week working on a couple of charcoal portraits, and it reminded me how much I enjoy drawing outside of tattooing. Charcoal has a way of capturing texture, expression, and emotion that feels completely different from paint or tattooing.
I'm considering taking on a limited number of custom charcoal portrait commissions and wanted to see if there would be any interest before I put together sizes, pricing, and availability.
These would be original hand-drawn pieces created from your photos—family members, loved ones, pets, memorial portraits, or just someone important to you.
If that's something you'd be interested in, let me know in the comments or send me a message. If enough people are interested, I'll put together all the details and open up a few commission spots.

Quick explanation for anyone who's ever seen a random ChatGPT prompt accidentally make it into one of my posts...

I'm AuDHD, and I use ChatGPT as an editing tool quite a bit. Not to create my artwork or my opinions, but to help organize thoughts that sometimes arrive faster than I can type them.

Occasionally, you'll see a line at the beginning of a post that looks like an instruction or prompt. That's not some secret marketing strategy—it's usually me copying a long response on my phone and accidentally grabbing part of the prompt along with the finished text.

When you're working with several paragraphs on a small screen, sometimes that first line gets missed before posting. By the time I notice it, a few hundred people have already seen it.

The artwork is still mine. The ideas are still mine. The occasional weird line at the top is just evidence that technology and human error remain undefeated.

I’m putting the call out for canvas to all my people. I want to be mid Missouri’s, or even the Midwest’s place to get color realism/color portraits, organic bio, or dark art//horror bio. I know this isn’t for everyone, but if you know someone that would like these projects be sure to tag them. Even if you don’t know someone, please do the things that makes the algorithm happy by sharing, liking, and commenting on the post so that hopefully it gets in front of someone that is looking to get something like this. The links are the way to book directly if you’re ready to claim one for yourself, the color portrait sleeve is currently being raffled off, tickets are available for purchase at skin thieves in Sedalia. All projects are flat session rates, prices in link are estimated totals to complete the entire project. The Ugly Stage
Every painting has a point where it looks terrible.
The colors don't make sense. The proportions feel off. Nothing looks finished, and it can be hard to see where it's going.
That's normal.
Most people only ever see finished artwork, so they assume artists move from blank canvas to masterpiece in a straight line. The reality is that good paintings usually pass through an awkward, ugly phase before they start coming together.
Painting isn't about getting it perfect from the first brushstroke. It's about making a thousand small decisions, correcting mistakes, and trusting the process long enough to reach the other side.
So if you're seeing a work-in-progress and thinking, "That doesn't look right yet," you're probably looking at it exactly where it's supposed to be.
The ugly stage isn't failure.
It's part of the painting. 🎨

🔥 FULL COLOR PORTRAIT SLEEVE RAFFLE 🔥

After a lot of planning, I’ve decided to open ONE spot for a large-scale color portrait sleeve project.

This project has a retail value of $9,600 and requires 8 full-day sessions over approximately 4 months.

I want to be completely transparent:

This raffle is not intended to generate the full value of the sleeve. It’s an opportunity for someone to get a dream project they may not otherwise be able to afford, while allowing me to create a portfolio piece I’ve wanted to tackle for a long time.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

✔ Full color portrait sleeve
✔ Tattooed exactly as designed
✔ No cover-ups
✔ No design changes or additions
✔ Winner must commit to all 8 sessions
✔ Must be 18+

🎟 TICKETS

1 for $25
3 for $60
5 for $100

Only a limited number of tickets will be available.

The winner will receive the complete sleeve project shown in the concept artwork.

Would you wear this?

Comment “PORTRAIT” below if you’d take on a project like this.
