Begin Again Ranch I live to guide others to a position of empowerment in the face of all of life’s hardships. We’re here to help.

Our mission at Begin Again Ranch is to support those in need of assistance as they navigate their life’s path. We give everyone going through a life transition the opportunity to achieve a full, healthy life through equine interaction. Working with horses, our horses will teach you to find the courage to take the first step into a place of infinite peace. In addition to one-on-one sessions, we also offer team building exercises, leadership training, and support groups for those going through terminal illnesses or loss. Terri is certified in Equine Gestalt Coaching and herself endured a Traumatic Brain Injury. Terri offers you the unique experience of learning from the wisdom and spirit of the horses to overcome the obstacles blocking their way to a rich and full life post-TBI event. Tuesdays with Terri ~ I spent last week totally outside my comfort zone. As part of the Ms Colorado Senior America Queen support team, I went to Atlantic City NJ for the Ms Senior America National Pageant. Surrounded by 44 crowns, sashes and way too much sparkle to name. What started out as overwhelming became somewhat comfortable. Yes, I has my own bling and my roommate, Rene, was patient, understanding and so completely open to sharing and teaching me the ropes. Our Queen, Colleen Costigan, came in 2nd runner up and we all got home in one piece, A wonderful experience and it is now part of my comfort zone, What steps can you take to move outside your own comfort zone? Remember if it is too much you can always step back into your cocoon, but where is the adventure in that?

Tuesdays with Terri ~ Some things in life are obviously fabulous and wonderful. Then there are those occurrences that tend to need more introspection or contemplation. In a few days I fly off to the National Ms Senior America Pageant. Many days of chaos, excitement, dread, sparkle, gowns, crowns and the occasional "what am I doing here?" No, I'm not competing, I am part of the Colorado support staff and will do my best to be there for our State Queen and our State Pageant Administrator. I sparkle in the supporting role and though I'm anxious about how much energy (and sparkle) I will have to encounter, I am confident in myself, I know my boundaries, and self care will be key. Hopefully they ask me again next year.

Tuesdays with Terri ~ A short time ago I was busy (dare I say frustrated) in the middle of something "I had to do" when I stopped, took a breath and said to myself "this does not bring me joy so why am I still doing it?" It was in that moment that I remembered that I did not have to say yes to something just to be sure I was still relevant, included, valued. I was just doing something that no one else had volunteered to do. So I finished my chore and vowed to remember that next time I can just say "sorry, I cant fit that into my schedule right now" and that will open space for something that will bring me joy. What is something you can let go of so that there is room for your own joy?

Tuesdays with Terri ~ Stepping out of your comfort zone can be scary and overwhelming, but only if you let it. Instead, think of it as new possibilities and opportunities to spread your wings and take flight. This picture is me embracing stepping out of my comfort zone and onto the stage. Yes I can say "I am a dancer" as we are about to go on stage to perform at the 2026 Queen's Tea. So I invite you to contemplate this "maybe it's time to let go of who you think you are in order to become who you are meant to be"

Tuesdays with Terri ~ Some days you may find yourself challenged or annoyed by daily occurrences. Or maybe something out of your control but that makes you feel "less than" on those days it is good to remember that it's OK to self soothe and not expect loving kindness from someone else (who may or may not be aware of how you are feeling). Take whatever time you need to comfort yourself safely (meaning no drugs or alcohol) and know that tomorrow may be a better day.

Important event coming up in two weeks, dance rehearsals for said event, reports needed, and not sleeping well as the mind keeps churning. Well my goodness. For the first time since starting my Tuesdays with Terri posts, I completely forgot it was Tuesday. So it's a bit later than I usually post but it's still Tuesday. I've had a few busy days in a row and was looking forward to having only my Pilates class (a favorite) on my calendar for today. I realized that I have been waiting for the perfect time, journal, pen to continue writing my second book. Instead of giving myself permission to continue waiting, I just signed up for a writer's retreat in Santa Fe for a week next February. Now, granted that is not really starting now but because I've taken that step I feel ready to pick up a favorite pen and enjoy the writing process once more. What's something new or challenging that you can take that first step towards? Don't wait. Do it now.

Tuesdays with Terri ~ I came across today's quote after a particularly trying day. Feel tired and broken, I saw this message and smiled. Yes, I am made up of many flaws. Some painful, some amusing and some embraced with honor. While I acknowledge my flaws, I also think about how I can learn from them and maybe become a better person. Not in spite of them but because of them. I invite you to think about and embrace your own flaws. Because of them we are who we are. Messy, cracked and joyously human.

Tuesdays with Terri ~ There's a new word I've made up (or apologies if someone else made it up) "voluntold" this happens when you find out that instead of volunteering for an assignment or project, you are VOLUN-TOLD that you are doing it. This has happened to me on more than one occasion lately. Most times I laugh and accept the new assignment. The last time this happened I found myself becoming resentful that I wasn't asked if I could do something, but it was assumed that I would. The next time (and I'm sure there will be a next time) this happens, if I really don't want to take on something else, I give myself permission to politely say "thank you for thinking of me but I am unable to take that on at this time". What do you need to give yourself permission to put yourself first and decline the assignment or project?
