One of the saddest trauma recovery tasks for me was giving up hope we're ever gonna get that apology or explanation for why what happened, happened.

I hate it.

Turns out: we don't NEED that "why" or "sorry" to move on.

But goddamn if part of us doesn't REALLY want it.

It’s science proven…

What Connects Then to Now

The nervous system
The body stored the original experience as a threat pattern and continues to respond to anything that resembles it as though the original threat is still present.

The belief system
The child made meaning of what happened and that meaning became a core belief about themselves, others, and the world that now runs automatically beneath every relationship.

The adaptation
The behavior that helped the child survive is now the behavior running in adult relationships where the threat is gone but the strategy remains, costing the person the very connection they most need.

This is what people mean when they say trauma lives in the body. Not that you spend your days thinking about what happened. Not that you're stuck in the past in any conscious way. But that your nervous system stores the emotional reality of what you lived through and continues to use it as a reference point for every experience that follows.

Understanding where your patterns came from doesn't require you to assign blame. It requires something more difficult: the honest recognition that what happened left a mark. That the mark is specific. That it shows up in specific ways. And that it can, with the right support, the right work, enough safe experience, gradually change.

None of them. That’s someone trying to handle the daily basic necessities of normal living yet it IS A STRUGGLE for those living with chronic conditions and illnesses

A good day can still be a hard day.

Sometimes we get dressed because we want to feel like ourselves. Sometimes we go out because we miss our life. Sometimes we laugh because something was actually funny.

None of that means the symptoms disappeared.

Looking okay, doing something, or having a productive day doesn’t tell you what it took to get there.

They saw the moment. They didn’t see the cost.

What’s something people assume means you’re feeling better when it really doesn’t?

💙 POTS vs. Vasovagal Syncope (VS/NCS)

POTS and vasovagal syncope are both forms of dysautonomia, but they are not the same condition. POTS is primarily associated with an excessive increase in heart rate after standing, while vasovagal syncope typically involves a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate that can lead to fainting.

Some people with POTS can also experience fainting, and it’s possible to have more than one type of dysautonomia.

✨ Understanding the difference can help reduce confusion, improve awareness, and encourage better conversations with healthcare providers.
