💀🖤 A LITTLE WEIRD IS A WONDERFUL THING! 🖤💀

Not everything at Popp's Apothecary & Oddities comes in a tea jar. 😉

Some things are mysterious.
Some things are magickal.
Some things make you stop and say, "What on earth is THAT?!"

And those are some of my favorite things in the shop!

I love having a place where the unusual is celebrated and curiosity is always welcome.

So let's have a little fun today...

🔮 If you could add ANY strange, spooky, or unusual treasure to your collection, what would it be?

A haunted-looking doll? A mysterious old key? A tiny skeleton? Something completely unexpected?

Tell me! You might even give me ideas for future shop treasures. 👀

🌙✨ This Month’s Moon Phases ✨🌙

The moon moves through a steady cycle each month, offering natural moments to pause, release, set intentions, take action, and reflect. Working with these phases helps create rhythm, clarity, and balance in everyday life.

Use this guide as a touchstone throughout the month:

🌗 THIRD (LAST) QUARTER
Release • Reflect • Realign
This phase invites honest reflection. Notice what felt heavy, what didn’t flow, or what no longer fits. Release habits, thoughts, or commitments that drain your energy. Clearing space now makes room for what’s next.
— — —
🌑 NEW MOON
Begin • Intend • Plant Seeds
A quiet, inward phase and a powerful reset. Set clear intentions and focus on what you want to grow. This is the time for vision, goal-setting, and gentle planning rather than action.
— — —
🌓 FIRST QUARTER
Act • Build • Adjust
Momentum begins to rise. Take inspired, practical steps toward your intentions. Challenges may appear — use them as opportunities to refine your path and strengthen commitment.
— — —
🌕 FULL MOON
Illuminate • Celebrate • Release
A peak moment of awareness and clarity. Celebrate progress, acknowledge growth, and express gratitude. Anything that feels complete, overwhelming, or out of alignment can be released under this moon.
— — —

✨ Let the moon be a guide, not a rule — move with it in ways that feel supportive and natural to you.

Which phase are you feeling most drawn to right now? 🌑 🌗 🌓 🌕

🌿✨ HERB OF THE WEEK: ROSEMARY ✨🌿

Let’s talk about an herb that deserves a little more attention than just being sprinkled on roasted vegetables!

Rosemary has a long history of use in folklore, cooking, and traditional herbal practices.

🌿 In herbal folklore, rosemary is associated with remembrance, protection, and purification.

🕯️ It has appeared in remembrance traditions, weddings, and seasonal celebrations.

🍵 Its distinctive pine-like aroma makes it a wonderful addition to many culinary herbal blends.

And with Samhain approaching, rosemary’s association with remembrance feels especially fitting.

One of my favorite things about running a working apothecary is sharing the stories behind the herbs on my shelves.

Have you ever used rosemary for something other than cooking?

🌙🖤 THE VEIL IS THINNING... 🖤🌙

As October draws to a close, we approach Samhain (pronounced *SOW-in*), a traditional Gaelic festival marking the transition from harvest season into the darker half of the year.

For many modern Pagans and witches, Samhain is a time of remembrance, reflection, and honoring those who came before us.

It's a time to slow down, acknowledge what we've lost, celebrate what we've gained, and consider what we're ready to release.

Some people light candles, create ancestor altars, share stories, or simply enjoy a quiet moment of remembrance.

There is no single way everyone celebrates, and that's part of what makes traditions so meaningful. 🖤

✨ Do you celebrate Samhain, Halloween, both, or something entirely different?

I'd love to hear about your traditions!
