It’s a family affair! Today Aunt Heather (visiting from Florida) assisted Amick in refilling the vending machine at Marion Technical College downtown campus! We love that the job includes this social aspect too.

Working alongside specialists in our Severe Behavior Program empowered Amick’s family to develop a unique treatment plan to help reduce their son’s challenging behaviors and develop communication skills. Motivated by her son’s love for vending machines and her desire to create meaningful employment opportunities for individuals of different abilities, Amick’s mom, Brooke, founded Ability Vending. Today, 15-year-old Amick helps out by stocking the company’s vending machines, checking inventory and counting earnings.

Ability Vending has expanded! We have a new Vending Machine Operator - Caden, and a new machine located in Marion! We are thrilled to welcome Caden and boy did he have a busy first day. The students from Marion Technical College downtown campus have been great customers, and Caden took great care to make sure the vending machine was filled, cleaned and disinfected. Way to go Caden!

Also notice the job/life skills he is working on...counting the money and having to complete a time sheet. Meaningful employment is what Ability Vending is all about!

Ability Vending is looking for a new location to host one or more of our vending machines! Do you own or work in a business that has significant foot traffic and would appreciate the unique qualities Ability Vending would bring to their location?

We are happy to say that our model is working well, Amick loves going to work, and he has picked up on the process very quickly! We began in a very low volume office park, and in order to truly test this business model, we need to work on profitability by securing a busier space.

Can you help us with our next location? Powell, Dublin or Northwest Columbus preferred. Hotel, Apartment Complex, YMCA, Gym, or office building with 75 or more employees (currently working in the office 😏).
