In early trials involving conditions such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, and other aggressive autoimmune disorders, patients experienced rapid and dramatic improvement. Researchers at UCLA have developed an experimental drug called PP405 that shows promise in restoring hair growth by awakening inactive hair follicle stem cells. Unlike common treatments that mainly slow hair loss, PP405 targets the root cause by stimulating the biological process needed for new hair production.

In laboratory studies, mice treated with PP405 experienced notable hair regrowth, even when their ability to produce lactate was genetically reduced. The drug works by increasing lactate levels inside hair follicle stem cells, a key signal that pushes these cells back into an active, hair-producing state.
