One year ago today was the first day I tattooed myself here at Survivors Ink. I can not thank those of you enough who have come in over the last year and trusted me to tattoo you. Also, those of you who follow my work but haven’t made an appointment yet, thank you guys as well. I posted the first tattoo I did here and the tattoo I did yesterday. One year down and I have to say, I love this job. I’m so glad I took the leap into the unknown and took a chance on myself. I couldn’t have done it without my supportive girlfriend and biggest fan, Audrey, my kids for understanding why my work hours aren’t always 9-5, and my brothers and sisters for being a huge support system. Thank you to my Mom (got her first tattoo from me), my Dad and Liza (Dad I’ll talk you into a tattoo at some point), and Amanda thank you for coming in and getting your first tattoo from me. I also have to mention my Grandma Joan Tiemeyer. For many years growing up I’d hangout with my grandma, painting and drawing and in high school I painted a mural in my bedroom with her. She has been telling me since I graduated high school that I need to do something creative for a living, she didn’t have tattooing in mind, but for not having any herself she does enjoy looking at them as I post them.
So yesterday I did say I had big news to share. I am in the process of opening my own shop in Sidney, Iowa. I live there and part of starting this job was spending more time with my kids. Living and working in the same town is going to make that much easier. The state is running a little slow thanks to COVID, but as soon as all the paper work and inspection is done I’ll let everyone know more information. It’s a little farther for some of you and a little closer for others. This decision to move shops is the best move for my family, and I hope all of you will understand that. Terry and I had a conversation about it and we aren’t going to be each other’s competition, but rather work together in a sense to keep providing to our clients. With that said, thank you Terry for taking a chance on me. Thank you Spoter for your support, knowledge and the 5 inches hanging below my knees. Natasha, you are the bees knees. Thanks for everything.
Driever Design is going to be the best way to reach me once the new shop is up and running.
