Obesity is not rooted in mental health. Why is it that before weight loss surgery, patients are subjected to psychological evaluation, with no objective studies to establish a causal association? There is no evidence that shows mental health itself causes obesity. Our recently published retrospective review article showed that psychological evaluation has no predictive value for the outcomes of weight-loss surgical procedures.
