Your Voice Matters—Learn How to Use It at LSNA's Advocacy Day!

Every day, nurses are on the front lines of healthcare—caring for patients, navigating complex systems, and seeing firsthand what works and what doesn’t. But too often, the voices of those who know healthcare best are missing from the conversations where critical decisions are made. Advocacy Day is designed to change that.

This engaging continuing education experience prepares Louisiana nurses and nursing students to confidently and effectively participate in the legislative process. Whether you are brand new to advocacy or looking to deepen your understanding, Advocacy Day will equip you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make your voice heard on issues that impact nursing practice, patient care, and the future of healthcare in our state.

Throughout the day, participants will gain a clear, practical understanding of what advocacy really means—and why it matters. You’ll learn how to track and analyze legislation, navigate the Louisiana legislative process, and communicate effectively with legislators. These skills are essential for nurses who want to move beyond awareness and take meaningful action.

The program also dives into current nursing-related legislative initiatives, helping you connect the dots between policy and everyday practice. You won’t just hear about what’s happening, you’ll learn how to engage in the process in a way that is informed, professional, and impactful.

Advocacy Day features knowledgeable speakers, including policy experts and members of the LSNA Health Policy Committee, who bring real-world experience and practical insight. They will guide you step by step through how nurses can influence legislation and serve as trusted resources in shaping healthcare policies.

The day concludes with an overview of the Louisiana Nurses Political Action Committee and a discussion of how Advocacy Day connects to Nurses Day at the Capitol—showing how education, engagement, and action come together to strengthen the voice of nursing across Louisiana.

If you’ve ever thought, “I want to make a difference, but I don’t know where to start,” Advocacy Day is your starting point.

Join your colleagues. Build your advocacy skills. Strengthen the future of nursing in Louisiana.

Register today and take your place at the table where healthcare decisions are made.
