Have you ever noticed how emotions can affect you physically?

The tightness in your chest when you’re anxious. The knot in your stomach when you’re worried. The exhaustion that sometimes follows grief.

Our emotions aren’t experienced only in our minds. They can influence how our bodies feel and function, too.

Throughout history, different medical traditions have associated certain organs with particular emotions. While these associations are symbolic rather than established anatomical relationships, the connection between emotional and physical health is very real.

The mind and body are not two separate stories. They are deeply connected.

Meet Fr. George Henry Backhaus (1811–1882)

Fr. Backhaus was a German Catholic priest who eventually became an important figure in the early Catholic community of Bendigo, Australia. He was also known for having considerable medical knowledge and caring for the sick.

Here’s where the homeopathy connection gets interesting.
In 1851, while he was in Adelaide, a contemporary account discussing homeopathy mentioned “Dr Bockhaus,” a German Catholic priest who was reputed to have medical skill in the “new system.” In context, the “new system” being discussed was homeopathy. Historians identify this priest as Fr. Backhaus.

Historical accounts also describe his dedication to caring for the sick and poor throughout his priestly life.

I love finding these little connections in history. Homeopathy was spreading throughout the world during the 1800s, and it’s fascinating to see where Catholic history crossed paths with it.

Homeopathy has taught me that the little details matter. The way a symptom feels, what makes it better or worse, when it began, and how you experience it can all help us see the bigger picture.

It’s one of the things I love most about this work: taking the time to listen, ask questions, and truly understand the person sitting across from me.

So yes, when your homeopath asks you 47 oddly specific questions… there’s a reason. 😂

I get this question all the time, so I wanted to make it a little easier!

🌿 Acute consultations are generally for concerns that are sudden, recent, and short-term.

🌿 Chronic consultations are for concerns that are ongoing, recurring, or need a deeper look at your overall health picture.

And remember, something can feel “acute” because it’s flaring right now, but if it has been happening repeatedly or for a longer period of time, it may actually belong under chronic care.

This is why I do what I do. 🤍

Today I received these pictures from a client’s daughter, along with the sweetest note. When I first began working with her father, he could barely walk. Now he’s traveling, exploring, and making beautiful memories with his daughter again.

She wrote, “You gave me back my adventure partner, my hero.” 🥹

Those words touched my heart more than she knows. But above all, the glory belongs to God. I’m simply grateful He has allowed me to use what I’ve learned to serve others and witness moments like these.

God is so good. Here’s to many more adventures. 🤍🌹

Hello to all my new followers, and hello again to those who have been here for a while! ✨ I thought it was time for a little reintroduction. 🤍

My name is Ashley, and I’m a homeopath based in the Maryland and Washington, DC area. 🌿 I have a background in Health Sciences and Homeopathic Medicine and received my Fellowship and Clinical Mastery through The Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine.

My love for natural and alternative medicine started when I was a teenager, and over the years it grew into something I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to. Today, I have the privilege of working with adults and children through my practice, Rose Blanche Wellness, and I truly love what I do. 🤍

✨ A few fun facts about me ✨

▪️ I’m a homeschool mom to two boys. 📚

▪️ I’m devoted to the Blessed Mother, and that devotion is actually the inspiration behind the name Rose Blanche Wellness. “Rose Blanche” means “White Rose,” and the name holds a very special meaning to me. 🤍🌹

▪️ I’m a HUGE bookworm. 📚 Barnes & Noble is my favorite store, and I could easily spend hours there. I especially love psychology books and anything related to natural medicine. Give me a good book and a quiet corner and I’m happy. 😂

▪️ My favorite author is Edgar Allan Poe, and one of my favorite pieces is Annabel Lee. I’ve always loved dark and mysterious stories. 🖤

▪️ Before choosing alternative medicine, I majored in Forensic Science at the University of Maryland. I guess the love of investigating and putting little pieces together never really left me. 🔎😂

▪️ Middle Eastern food is my absolute favorite! I grew up eating it, so it has always been one of those foods that feels like comfort and home to me. 🤍

▪️ My favorite color is teal. Give me anything teal and I’m probably going to love it. 😂

▪️ I play both the piano and violin. 🎹🎻 I’m a pro at playing Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, and it’s my absolute favorite piece.🌙

▪️ I speak both English and Spanish.

▪️ And when football season comes around, I’m a Ravens girl. 🐦‍⬛🏈
