Picky Eating vs. Problem Feeding

Most toddlers go through a picky phase. Sometimes "picky" is something more.

A picky eater has 30+ foods and tolerates new foods on the plate. ✅ Problem feeding looks different: under 20 foods, dropping foods without replacing them, gagging or crying at new foods, whole textures refused entirely.

🌟 Try this at home:

Take the pressure off. Encourage your child to “play” with their food and feed it to others. 🧸 Serve one safe food at every meal alongside what the family eats. No bribing, no "just one bite."

If the food list keeps shrinking, your child is losing weight, or you are concerned with choking, see your pediatrician and seek out help!

Young children learn language through back-and-forth interaction with real people, and a video can't respond to your child.

The screen time that can have the biggest impact? Background TV that nobody is watching. It can quietly reduce conversations and interactions at home.

✨ Try this at home: 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Watch together and talk about what you see.

Turn off background TV during playtime.
Keep meals screen-free.
