June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month
Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. More than 55 million people in the world live with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Alzheimer’s is a disease that kills nerve cells and tissue in the brain which affects one’s memory and ability to think and plan. The disease eventually causes one to lose their ability to communicate and recognize family and friends.
You may want to consider seeing a primary care physician if you notice your loved ones having difficulty with the following:
-Remembering new things
-Poor decision making
-Drastic changes in Mood and Personality
-Understanding the passage of time such as changes in months and seasons
-Performing common activities
