At Bluford Health Care & Associates, moments like this remind me exactly why I do what I do.
A 53-year-old African American male came to our practice struggling with uncontrolled hypertension, obesity, and diabetes. Although he had insurance, what he truly needed was a provider he could trust—someone who would listen, educate, and walk alongside him in his journey.
During his visit, I took the time to fully evaluate his health and provide a powerful amount of education around nutrition, exercise, medication management, and the importance of being intentional about his health as a man of color. Together, we created a plan. I initiated the right medications and ensured continuity of care by bridging him to a full-time primary care provider in Laurens County.
Today, this is the message we received:
“Guess what—I weigh 200 lbs now thanks to you. You the best. You saved my life. Thank you again. I owe the world to you.”
This is why representation matters. As a woman of color serving my community, I take pride in leading, advocating, and creating real change in my patients’ lives.
Convenient care and telehealth services are not just options—they are powerful tools that allow us to deliver quality, life-changing care right where patients are.
