We started care with one daughter who needed to work on brain health and ADHD symptoms impacting her school performance, mood and optimism…

Then during the intake of her family history, we touched base on her younger sister, who had a reactive tick bite the summer before. Sister felt “OK” after conventional Lyme treatment, but not all the way normal. We explored the history of her bite, the way her body responded and it become increasingly clear that Lyme was likely something that existed in her body from BEFORE the bite.

Did you know Lyme came be passed congenitally? From Mom or Dad to baby. Lyme can also be passed sexually, from partner to partner.

We quickly discovered we had 3 girls in one house all dealing with the same core infection, activated through different symptom load and triggers (Botox, acute tick bite) and effecting different body systems.

Inattention, processing struggles, headaches anxiety and panic, depression and disinterest in school or socials, blood sugar irregularities, persistent inflammation, ENT struggles, amplified perimenopause symptoms…

Listen in as Kelly and I talk through what the process of addressing dysfunctional immune systems, weighed down by Lyme and bug borne confections and their opportunistic infections - did to bring healing and a higher foundational of more typical health to her family.

If this sounds like something that may be impacting your family, listen to the full episode where you enjoy podcasts or schedule a free clarity call to see if care is a fit for improving the health of your family.

Long COVID. POTS. PANS/PANDAS. Lyme disease. MCAS. Autoimmunity. Chronic fatigue. Anxiety. Eczema. Recurrent infections.

Different diagnoses. Different symptoms. Different stories.

But often, the same underlying problem: an immune system that’s no longer communicating, signaling, and responding the way it was designed to.

We’ve become very accustomed to viewing health through the lens of the nervous system efforts. More breathwork. More mindfulness. More vagus nerve support. More stress management.

And while those tools absolutely matter, they aren’t the whole story.

The nervous system can only communicate with the information it’s receiving. If the immune system is constantly responding to infections, toxins, allergens, inflammation, or other ongoing threats, the body will continue sending distress signals no matter how calm we try to become.

This is why we focus so heavily on immune function in our practice.

Not because diagnoses don’t matter - but because the body’s function matters more. Care organized around function brings resolution.
When we restore healthy immune signaling and communication, symptoms often begin to make sense. And more importantly, they begin to change.

No matter what diagnosis is on your chart, you have an immune system.

And that’s good news.

What starts as one child struggling with anxiety, ADHD symptoms, Lyme, or chronic illness often turns into a much bigger family story.

In this episode, Elizabeth talks with Kelly Riley, MS, NTP, founder of Foundations Nutritional Wellness and Osteostrong Westfield Indiana, about the healing journey that unfolded across her entire family. What began as support for her daughter Sloane’s anxiety, gut issues, and inattentive ADHD quickly uncovered deeper patterns of Lyme, Babesia, Mycoplasma, strep, immune dysregulation, and chronic inflammation affecting multiple family members — including Kelly herself after a Botox-type filler injury.

Together they discuss the overlap between chronic infections and mental health symptoms, how panic and depersonalization can sometimes be rooted in physiology, and the role homeopathy and functional immunology played in calming the nervous system and restoring resilience. Kelly also shares her experience with PCOS, Hashimoto’s, alopecia, post-COVID immune shifts, a suspected Botox-type filler injury, and the moment she realized these weren’t isolated issues - but a connected immune story.

This conversation is honest, hopeful, and deeply validating for families who know something is wrong even when answers feel incomplete.

In this episode:
- Lyme, Babesia, EBV, strep, Botox Injury & chronic immune activation
- Anxiety, panic attacks, depersonalization & neuroinflammation
- Functional immunology and family healing
- Homeopathy and nervous system regulation
- Supporting children with ADHD/anxiety symptoms from a root-cause lens
- Why healing is a journey, not a finish line

It’s just your nervous system….
It’s just pots…..
…no one really knows why that happens.
It’s just inflammation….
It’s just fibromyalgia….
It’s just MCAS….
It’s just an autoimmune disease….
It’s just a positive ANA…
Or a positive RA factor…
It just needs a steroid…
It just needs an antibiotic….

It really is your immune system and needs immune centered care and education to support the decrease of symptoms, a plan to work towards resolution and dormancy - and above all: your immune system needs to reach balance.

Anything short of that is a bandaid. No amount of nervous system strategy, steroids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications or diet…will resolve immune balance, the root and thread to the above challenges.

Lyme is known as “the great imitator” because it can look like many different conditions and impact nearly every system in the body - sometimes long after the initial bite.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is commonly mistaken for conditions such as fibromyalgia, ADHD, mental health disorders, PANDAS, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A rash (erythema migrans), sometimes with a bullseye pattern, is a classic sign of Lyme - but not everyone develops a rash, and its absence does not rule out infection.

🎙️ NEW EPISODE

Why do some people recover from illness while others stay stuck in cycles of fatigue, allergies, gut issues, anxiety, chronic infections, or autoimmune symptoms?

Why do others who get a tick bite contract Lyme Disease and others don’t?

In our season opener, we’re unpacking the immune system, chronic inflammation, triggering events, and the functional immunology lens that drives nearly every client success story we see.

Your body isn’t broken. Your symptoms are communication.

Listen now on HEY YOU’RE GONNA BE OK.

The biggest myth about Lyme disease?
That it always starts with a tick bite you noticed and a bullseye rash you couldn’t miss.

The reality is far more complicated.

Many people never see the tick. Many never develop the classic rash. And years later, they’re sitting in specialists’ offices collecting diagnoses, prescriptions, and labels - without anyone asking why their immune system became overwhelmed in the first place.

Lyme is not simply a skin rash or a short-term infection. It can impact the nervous system, digestive system, hormones, joints, mood, cognition, sleep, energy, and immune function. It often travels alongside co-infections and other immune stressors, creating symptom pictures that look different from person to person.

In our practice, we’ve seen Lyme and tick-borne infections hiding beneath:

✨ Autoimmune conditions
✨ Chronic fatigue
✨ Anxiety and depression
✨ ADHD and behavioral changes
✨ Migraines and neurological symptoms
✨ Fibromyalgia-like pain
✨ Recurrent infections
✨ Allergies, food reactivity and FPIES
✨ Hormone imbalance
✨ PANS/PANDAS presentations

Does every chronic symptom equal Lyme? Of course not.

But Lyme deserves far more attention, research, education, and clinical curiosity than it currently receives.

When symptoms don’t make sense, when treatments only help temporarily, or when your story feels bigger than a diagnosis, it’s worth asking deeper questions.

The goal isn’t fear or avoidance: it is understanding.

Because healing becomes possible when we stop asking, “What diagnosis do I have?” and start asking, “What is driving my body’s dysfunction in the first place?”

If it’s time for you to organize your health around symptoms and resolution rather than diagnosis -> schedule a clarity call with our team!

✨ TH1/TH2 immune balance in normal-human language
✨ Why recurring infections, allergies, food sensitivities, eczema, POTS, MCAS, anxiety, and autoimmune symptoms are often connected
✨ How we use a functional immunology approach to help clients get well—and stay well

If you’ve ever thought, “I’ve never been the same since...” this episode is for you.
