In today's post we will discuss important facts concerning health and the role of homeopathic and complementary medicine in maintaining good health.
What is health, and what is disease? The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely absence of disease or infirmity.” Yet is it possible for us to stay healthy in the modern conditions of life? On a daily basis we are exposed to the multitude of toxins and harmful chemicals, strong electro-magnetic fields, and overwhelming amounts of impressions and information. Many people, both children and adults, regularly take prescription medications for a multitude of disorders, and nowadays this trend is becoming widely accepted and by many considered quite normal. So, let’s ask ourselves again: What is the meaning of well-being in modern conditions of life?
It would be more accurate to define health as a state of resilience and dynamic equilibrium of energies and forces in a human being. Health is not a static situation, health needs to be maintained at all times. Please see the diagram below that attempts to represent the human organization.
We humans are complex beings. To be more precise, we possess three main centers that are always in a state of dynamic interaction: thinking, feeling, and movement centers. This triad represents the entire human being. The thinking center corresponds to the head organization and nervous system, the feeling center — to rhythmic activities of breathing and blood circulation, and the movement center is represented by metabolism and action. Within the human triad, the head center is situated opposite to the metabolic-movement center, and these two centers can be seen as two opposing poles. While in the state of healthy equilibrium, all three centers work together harmoniously. Once the equilibrium is disturbed, a situation is created for various infirmities.
We can see that human organization is quite complex, and proper therapeutic approach requires a thorough, well grounded insight into each person’s situation. Every human being is unique, and utmost attention has to be given to each individual case. Here at RUTA Homeopathic & Complementary Medicine we don’t just fix symptoms, we take a good look into the root causes of ailments and diseases.
There are three basic ways to maintain good health:
- healthy and balanced nutrition,
- optimal lifestyle,
- Homeopathic and natural remedies if needed.
Nutrition is very important for good health. We provide individually tailored dietary recommendations and may suggest healthy lifestyle changes for each case. In addition, natural and homeopathic remedies may also be recommended for managing specific health concerns. As we have pointed out above, the aim of such a therapeutic process is to recreate the dynamic state of balance in the body, mind, and soul.
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a method for treatment of illnesses with minute doses of mineral, plant-derived, and biological substances. In this method, remedial substances are specially prepared to activate the body's own resources for healing. The main principle of Homeopathy is similia similibus curentur (in Latin), or "similar treats the similar."
Homeopathy is a system of natural health care that has been in use for over 200 years.
According to the National Institute of Health, more than 6 million people in the United States use homeopathy to treat specific health conditions, and over 200 million people use homeopathy on a regular basis worldwide.
According to survey results in 16 countries on the use of homeopathy, a significant number of people worldwide use homeopathic remedies regularly with good outcomes. What should a person expect from working with homeopathic practitioners?
During an encounter, a homeopathic practitioner very carefully observes the patient’s physical and psychological state and asks specific questions to select the most effective management. Once the appropriate remedies have been identified, a patient is given recommendations about a remedial management plan and is free to accept or decline it.
Homeopathic remedies are safe, usually free of side effects, cannot be overdosed, and may be given with other treatments and medications. The remedies can be given by mouth and as skin applications in various forms: pellets, liquids, ointments and creams.
What ailments can be treated by homeopathic remedies?
Many acute and chronic health conditions in children and adults can be effectively managed and even cured. Homeopathy is an excellent therapeutic resource especially for children, because many common pediatric complaints and ailments may be successfully addressed with homeopathy: bruises, sprains, muscle aches, ear aches, sore throat, skin rashes, anxiety, aggressive behavior, ADD, ADHD, respiratory issues, asthma, indigestion, tummy aches, bloating, flatulence, and many others. Homeopathy is also very effective for acute and chronic health conditions in adults. Homeopathic remedies are relatively inexpensive and can be obtained at a local pharmacy and health food store without a prescription.
