I provide a variety of services, for all ages, beginning in pregnancy and continuing through all of life. The following is a brief description my training and services. I provide home births in South Dakota and Minnesota within 80 miles of my home in rural Colman, South Dakota. I provide care to those having a low risk pregnancy. Care includes prenatals, birth, and postpartum care. Cranial Sacral
Therapy (CST):
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, as well, it is supportive for pregnancy and breastfeeding. I originally took my training begining in 2006, to work on my daughter, who has complex special needs. In 2006 I took 80 hours of training through Dynamic Body Balancing with an emphasis in pregnancy. In 2007 I took 64 hours of training through the Milne Institute Inc, with an emphasis in pediatrics. I completed my training working one on one, with two different people, who had practiced CST for decades and received their training directly from John Upledger. My specialty is working with pregnant women, babies, and chronic conditions, but I have worked with every age and gender. Lactation Support:
I have been doing breastfeeding support since the 1990's. I am a LaLeche League Breastfeeding Peer Counselor and retired LaLeche League leader. I have extensive experience supporting breastfeeding including special circumstances, such as, NICU, prematurity, and special needs babies. I have been trained in how to check for tongue ties, through checking the function of the tongue making sure movement is not restricted.
