Rewind a half-decade, I did my second-ever cover-up with these flowers across Deanna’s back, hiding some old regrets. I’ve come a long way since then!
When I first posted this piece, a talented artist from California sent me gentle, spot-on advice. I’ll always be grateful for that. Do the heavy lifting with the leaves. Flowers pull the eye instantly, so you can camouflage the trickier old lines underneath foliage. Good to know!
Last session, I layered in new colors and shading, but I can still see a few problem areas. It’s hard to be patient with my growth and work but it will be beautiful and miles ahead of where it was before we started on this.
Deanna also let me add a gothic cathedral arch over the piece that day, and I’m in love. Give me all the moody, architectural elements—I’d love to do more like this!

There’s just something about a caramel balayage on rich chocolate brown hair that gives ✨ pure magic ✨ — and this one might be my new favorite!

I used a freehand balayage technique to create these soft, sun-kissed ribbons of caramel, and honestly… this is one of my favorite services to do. It gives me the freedom to paint light exactly where it’ll pop — no foils, just flow. 🎨✨

The result? A bright yet natural-looking blend that adds dimension, movement, and warmth without losing the richness of that deep brunette base. It looks like she just got back from a beach vacation, and her hair caught all the golden light on the way.

This kind of low-maintenance beauty grows out softly and looks effortlessly stunning every step of the way. Who’s next? 👏

Hello! I hope you’re having a great day, not just a good day! Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, and for allowing me the possibility to do your hair. If we’re gonna be spending hours together at a time, hear a little bit about me so we’re not strangers. My name is Nicole Ivy, I grew up in a small town called Grenville here in South Dakota. I went to cosmetology school at Lake Area in Watertown, SD. I moved to Sioux Falls in 2021. I have two kids whom I am OBSESSED with, being a mom was my biggest dream in life. I have a son who is 2 years old, his name is Archer! He is my little firecracker. I also have a daughter who is 6 months old, her name is Clover Green! She is the light on Earth, just the sweetest little gal! I love music, going to concerts, and dancing. I enjoy cooking, and making my family yummy meals from scratch!
