Hello September!

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost…”
~J.R.R. Tolkien

Depicted here is the labyrinth at the Orchard Hill Center. Created in 2016 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Princeton Center for Yoga & Health. Memories of times gone by at the Orchard Hill Center: Health & Wellness - formerly Princeton Yoga. Yet the labyrinth still endures and is walked.

See Deborah Metzger’s blog about the impetus and process of its creation.

Our newest tenant at the Orchard Hill Center

The Rise Up Sessions Podcast is a psychology and personal growth podcast hosted by Zisa Levine, LCSW—therapist, entrepreneur, and former Israeli police officer. The show explores the intersection of psychology, business, mental health, and the decisions that shape our lives.

Episodes combine real stories with practical insights from therapy approaches such as CBT, EMDR, DBT, and ERP, helping listeners better understand how people navigate loss, risk, growth, and major life decisions.

Topics include psychology, entrepreneurship, relationships, trauma, and the moments when we have to decide whether to stay comfortable or move forward.

Stay tuned for new programs coming up in September.

"You can't possibly be thinking about nothing if your tail is wagging."

But you CAN observe yourself in the moment thinking of something and label it: "Thinking, thinking" and my tail is wagging...

And smile to yourself! 😉

Come to work happy every day - and wag your tail!

“Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn, a cool breeze in summer, snow in winter.
If your mind is not clouded by unnecessary things, this is the best season of your life.”

Summer Solstice!

The Summer Day

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean—
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down—
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.

I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

~ Mary Oliver

Hello June!

“It is a paradox that we encounter so
much internal noise
when we first try to sit in silence.

“…It is a paradox that keeping still can lead us
so fully into life and being.

“…Our minds do not like paradoxes. We
want things.
To be clear, so that we can maintain the illusion of safety.

“…When we sit in stillness we are profoundly active.
Keeping silent, we hear the roar of existence.
Through our willingness to be the one we are.
We become one with everything.”

- Gunilla Norris. Excerpts from Paradox of Noise

Hello May!

“Again, the violet bows to the lily.
Again, the rose is tearing off her gown!

The green ones have come from the other world,
tipsy like the breeze up to some new foolishness.

Again, near the top of the mountain
the anemone’s sweet features appear.

The hyacinth speaks formally to the jasmine,
“Peace be with you.” “And peace to you, lad!
Come walk with me in this meadow.”

Again, there are sufis everywhere!
The bud is shy, but the wind removes
her veil suddenly, “My friend!”

The Friend is here like water in the stream,
like a lotus on the water.

The narcissus winks at the wisteria,
“Whenever you say.”

And the clove to the willow, “You are the one
I hope for.” The willow replies, “Consider
these chambers of mine yours. Welcome!”

"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle." ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
