We are thrilled to have her! F***y’s energy practice is amazing, and our clients are going to love working with her.

The salt miners of Wieliczka, Poland, seldom had lung trouble. One doctor wanted to know why. 🧂

For about 700 years, salt came out of the Wieliczka mine near Kraków. In the mid-1800s, the mine’s physician, Dr. Feliks Boczkowski, noticed the men working underground stood out for their health. Respiratory illness barely touched them.

In 1843, salt therapy was first recognized as a treatment. Boczkowski went on to open the first health resort inside the mine itself.

The idea kept resurfacing:
→ During WWII, German physician Karl Hermann Spannagel saw his patients’ health improve after they sheltered from bombs in underground caves.
→ Professor Mieczysław Skulimowski built on Boczkowski’s work, developing a method around the microclimate of the mine’s underground chambers.
→ In 1976, Russian doctors and scientists created the halogenerator, a machine that releases tiny salt particles into the air.
→ By the 1980s, salt-lined halochambers brought the cave experience above ground.

Mining at Wieliczka stopped on June 30, 1996. Today the mine is a museum and an official spa, and one of its treatment chambers carries Boczkowski’s name.

The word itself comes from the Greek “halos,” meaning salt.

Here in Skippack Village, that 180-year-old idea lives in the salt cave. Salt brick walls, a halogenerator filling the air with pharmaceutical grade salt, the glow of salt lamps, and 45 minutes of breathing and relaxation.
