Ahh, September. 🍂 The weather's still pleasant, the kids are back in school 🎒 and you can enjoy a bit of peace before holiday season takes over. ☕
But, respiratory virus season is lurking...are you ready? If not, now is the perfect time to start protecting yourself and your family from the common cold, flu, RSV, bronchitis and other bugs. 🦠
💉 Get vaccinated! Nearly everyone 6 months or older should get the flu shot, which is safe, accessible, greatly reduces your risk of catching the flu and prevents severe illness if you do get sick. Adults and high-risk children should consider the COVID-19 vaccine, and certain children and older adults should receive the RSV vaccine. 🥗 Fuel your body. Eat a healthy, balanced diet, drink plenty of water 💧, get adequate sleep 😴 and exercise regularly to give your immune system a boost.
🤧 Cover up. Fully cover your mouth with the inside of your elbow when coughing or sneezing and teach children to do the same.
🧼 Practice good hand hygiene. Wash frequently, especially after using the bathroom, before preparing or eating food and after touching your face or shared surfaces. Teach your kiddos proper washing technique, too! 👧👦
🧽 Keep your home clean. Disinfect high-touch surfaces like doorknobs and light switches and keep your kitchen and bathroom clean. ✨
Unless you live in a bubble 🫧, it's impossible to guarantee you won't get sick this fall or winter. But a little attention now can reduce the chances you miss out on fall fun 🎃🍎 thanks to a nasty virus.
