🎶 The World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT) is pleased to share the revised definition of Music Therapy, developed through the work of the Working Group for Reviewing and Revising the Definition of Music Therapy during the 2023–2026 Council term.

This important milestone was announced during the General Business Meeting of the WFMT at the 18th World Congress of Music Therapy - Connecting Borders in Bologna, Italy (July 2026), marking a significant step in representing the evolution of our profession worldwide.

🌍 To make this definition increasingly accessible to the global music therapy community, new translations will be available over the coming week.

If you would like to contribute by providing a translation in your language, please send your proposal to: [email protected]

Together, we can support the dissemination and accessibility of music therapy knowledge across cultures and communities. 💙

A look into the late night life of a Music Therapist! 😂🎶 Finished making 32 bucket drums and wrapping 24 sets of Drum Sticks! The kids are going to love it so it’s definitely time well spent! 🥰❤️🎶 Now to remove those pesky bucket handles… 😅

🎶 Ukulele Donations Needed! 🎶

I recently started providing Music Therapy at a psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center for children and adolescents, and I am in need of ukuleles to help support these incredible kids & teens. ❤️

These individuals (ages 4–18) are working through mental health challenges and co-occurring substance use disorders, and music therapy is one powerful way to help them process emotions, build confidence, and experience joy again.

✨ How you can help:
• Donate a gently used ukulele
• Or purchase a new one using the link below 👇

Every single instrument gets used by the many different individuals in Music Therapy Sessions.

Music therapy isn’t just music — it’s connection, healing, and hope. 🎶

If you’ve ever had an instrument sitting around, this is your sign that it could truly change a life.

We did some Art to Music today in one of my school sessions! We painted as the music inspired! I always love how their art turns out with this activity! ❤️🎶
