She went to PT. Did a few appointments and after the worst of the pain calmed down and some bodyweight exercise, they told her she was “good” to start working out again.

No conversation about what “working out” meant to her or how she’d do that safely.

So when we first talked she was still scared to lift, move too quickly, or progress training out of fear of the next pain flare up. She came to me still scared to load her back.

We’ve been slowly building things back up for both strength and gaining trust in higher intensity movements and her low back’s capability to handle them. Keeping the pain manageable is just step one, but feeling athletic and confident again is the full process, especially to avoid reinjury cycles.

If your recovery felt incomplete, it might be because it was. DM me to chat about what a different plan might look like for you.

An all-or-nothing mindset usually leads to a whole lot of nothing.

Whenever I start working with a client, one of the first things we talk about is how much time they realistically have to dedicate toward their goals.

Yes, change requires effort. But it’s just as important to be realistic about what you can consistently commit to, start small if needed, and build from there.

This is one of the reasons virtual guidance works so well. Everything is individualized to fit your life and schedule so you can build sustainable habits instead of falling into the all-or-nothing cycle again.

If you’re ready for a different approach to your rehab and movement goals—one that’s focused on consistency, accountability, and realistic progress—I’d love to help support you.

If your lower neck and upper back have been feeling sore lately, you’re not alone!

Between work at the computer, a bit more driving and constantly lifting and carrying my son, my posture has felt the strain. And I think that’s pretty dang relatable.

It makes sense to want an easy fix like stretching, massage or theragun. Those things for sure help temporarily—but they don’t address the root of the problem and actually fix it.

So as much as I’d rather keep throwing my heating pad on and getting by…here are a couple of exercises I’m working on incorporating more regularly to help. They’re a good place to start if posture-related neck and upper back pain is something you deal with too.

Save this for yourself or send to someone who’s neck and back will find it helpful!

Last Saturday we did the Run Ready Workshop at !

We covered a lot of ground including:
✔️The proper way to warm up before a run and why it matters.
✔️Strength training tips specifically for runners.
✔️How to address some of the most common running injuries.
✔️Recovery basics to keep moving well and feeling good.

Each participant left with tools they could start using immediately to feel better on their runs and support their upcoming goals 💪

I love opportunities to teach and chat with people on things that can make a difference in how they feel and perform, so thanks to everyone who came out last Saturday and to Ironhide for hosting!

Want to learn more about how to improve your running or get through current injury? Send me a DM—I’m happy to help.

To me, Fearless Pursuit means feeling confident and capable enough in both body & mind to still go after the things that scare you.

To keep doing the stuff that makes you feel most alive, and have FUN doing it.

When I think about the one thing I want to help people be able to continue doing in their lives, it’s this!

Sometimes that might be simple and quite literally getting “back on the track” like I did tonight…but the point is to consider what that might be for you: this week, this summer, this year?

If you can relate to this, share in the comments what fearless pursuits you have for this upcoming season. I’d love to support you in your goals.

Big goals are built on the small wins!

If we don’t take time to notice them and reflect, it’s easy to miss the progress you’ve already made or get frustrated with the length of the process.

This is why every week I ask my clients to reflect on wins (mental or physical) to stay motivated, shift perspective, and keep moving forward.

It’s also just good to recognize that when you show up for yourself consistently, things keep moving.

Drop a win you’ve had this week in the comments 👏

What does a coffee cup have to do with understanding pain?

More than you might think!

The coffee lover in me has always appreciated the analogy, but it really does make sense. Your pain experience isn’t just about a single injury point— it’s also often about how full your “cup” is.

Stress, poor sleep, overtraining, other life stuff… it all adds up. Then when your cup overflows, your body feels it.

That’s why some days might feel totally fine,
and others everything flares up at once, “randomly”.

So what do you do?

You can either take things OUT of the cup…
or build a BIGGER one.

Pain is more than just physical—and if you’ve been stuck in this tough cycle, it’s understandably frustrating. DM me “overflow” to chat about what it might look like to start taking action on breaking it!

Yesterday was a great reminder for me:

Strength isn’t just about the gym.

It’s about being able to say “yes” to moments that really matter. I got out for a small hike with my son for the first time, and it was so meaningful. My legs were tired—but my body was capable of the task.

These are the moments that can keep you inspired when the training gets hard, or you think your injury or setback will never get better.

If pain, stiffness, or fear is making you hesitate and you’re not fully living the way you know you can…

Let’s build a plan and change that.
